Mrs. Shand
Mae Keener Shand, 66, of Pickens, S.C. died at 8:10 a.m on Sunday, Jan.31, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Shand was born in Macon County, and was the daughter of the late Issac Anthony and Nettie Calloway Keener. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Liberty. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy S. Martin of Pickens; two grandsons; two brothers, Joe Keener and Issac Keener, both of Highlands; and four sisters, Myrtle Mackey of Clyde, Lou James of Franklin, Clara Webb of Pickens and Maggie Gainor of Port Richey, Fla..
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, in Mount Moriah Cemetery at Goldmine Baptist Church, located between Highlands and Franklin.
Memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels, P.O. Box 1162, Pickens, S.C. 29671, or to the Building Fund of Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 906, Pickens, S.C. 29671. Parents: Isaac Anthony KEENER and Martha Nellie CALLOWAY.

Ellijay Items

Mrs. Jane Peek, widow of J.M.O. Peek, died last Wednesday morning. She was seventy-five years old and for some time had suffered from a diseased heart. For years she had been a consistent member of the Christian Church, and her decease was only a gentle release from suffering. Her many friends and relatives miss her very much. The community and the church have lost a noble and sincere character. Parents: Ulrich KEENER and Sophronia Caroline LEDFORD.
