Victim of Auto Accident Dies
Harly N. Keener Succumbs to Injuries Received 3 Weeks Ago
Harley N. Keener, 30, died in Angel Brothers Hospital, Friday, May 13, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the Georgia Road about three weeks ago.
Burial was at Walnut Creek cemetery at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. H.C. Freeman, pastor of the Franklin circuit, conducting the services.
Mr. Keener had been foreman on a construction job at Gilbertsville, Mass.until recently when he returned to his home at Gneiss. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Myrtle Fulton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Keener and three brothers, Wendell Keener of the United States Marines, stationed at San Francisco; Howard Keener of Washington, D.C. and Randolph Keener of Gilbertsville, Mass.
Mr. Keener was one of the best known young men in the county. More than 500 persons attended his funeral.

Death Takes Isaac Keener

Died at His Home on Ellijay Last Week-Was Prominent and Respected Citizen.

Isaac Ulric Keener, prominent and highly respected citizen of this community, died at his home at Higdonville, Thursday morning of last week about 7:30 o'clock, following a serious illness of only a brief duration. Death was attributed to asthma, from which Mr. Keener had been suffering for years.
Mr. Keener was a merchant, and had been postmaster at Higdonville for the past 16 months. He took a priminent part in the affairs of his community and the county, and was highly respected as a man of character and integrity.
Born in Rabun county, Ga., and reared there, Mr Keener moved to Macon county nine years ago, and had made his home at Higdonville since that time.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Misses Maud and Lois Keener; his mother, Mrs. M.J. Keener, of Thompson, Ga.; four brothers, Emory, of Otto, this county, Ed, of Chicago, Claud, of Albany, Ga., and Oscar, of Thompson, Ga.; and four sisters, Mrs. Maud Greer, of Atlanta, Mrs. Parrie Smith, of Washington, Ga., Mrs. Belle Thompson, of Thompson, Ga., and Miss Mollie Keener of Greenville, S.C..
The deceased had been a member of the Methodist church since he was 16 years of age, and was also a member of Higdonville council of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.
Funeral services were held from the Sugarfork Baptist church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, and interment was in the Sugarfork cemetery.
The funeral services werre conducted by the Rev. J.C. Strickland, Methodist minister, and the Rev. G.C. Steed, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church. Parents: Hiram Asbury KEENER and Mary E. "Mollie" KEENER.

Jackson Lee Keener
Jackson Lee Keener, 56, passed away November 5 in Naples, Florida, where he resided. A native of Macon County, Jack was raised on Walnut Creek in the Pine Grove Community. An Army Veteran, Jack was a talented musician and an avid fisherman, who now fishes only for the big ones. He held a State of Florida Commerical Contractor's License and worked for the Artist's Guild in Naples, Florida, where he designed and hand crafted fine furniture, a legacy passed on from his father, Grover Lee Keener.
Jack was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Grover Lee and Vesta Pauline Keener. He is survived by his wife, Pat Keener of Naples, Florida; his son, Kevin Keener; his daugher Karen Bunten and grandson, Cody Lee Keener. He is also survived by a sister Susan Walker and tow brothers, Biff Keener and Frederick Keener all of Franklin.
The family will received friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2000 at Bryant Funeral Home in Franklin. At other times, the family will be at Kevin Keener's residence, 75 Short Ridge Road, off Mashburn Branch Road. Services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, November 10 at Pine Grove Church with Rev. Ernie Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Goldmine Cemetery (Macon County, North Carolina - Mt. Moriah Cemetery).
