Obituary from The Franklin Press, Macon County, North Carolina, dated May 14, 1959:
Mrs. Huldah Keener Dies Saturday at Otto Home
Mrs. Huldah Holbrooks Keener, a Macon County native and widow of Emory M. Keener, died Saturday
(May 9) at her home in the Otto community at the age of 84. She had been ill for a month.
Mrs. Keener's funeral service wer conducted Sunday afternnon at the Asbury Methodist Church of which she had been a memeber for 40 years. Officiating were the Rev. Earl T. Crowe and the Rev. R. L. Poindexter. Burial was in the Rabun Gap Methodist cemetery.
Born April 2, 1875, she was the daughter of Larkin and Mrs. Sarah Moore Holbrooks. She and Mr. Keener were married Dec. 22, 1897 in theis county. He dies in June, 1952.
Surviving are three sones, Lee A. Keener, of Mansfield, Ohio, William I. Keener, of the home and Geroge D. Keener, of Franklin, Route 2; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth E. Garland of Tamassee, S. C., and Mrs. Ray Cabe, of Route 2; five sisters, Miss Lizzie Holbrooks, Miss Maggie Holbrooks, Miss Belle Holbrooks, Mrs. Hannibal Bates, and Mrs. Jane Oliver, all of Route 2; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Dean Garland, Gleen Keener, Alex Holbrooks, Robert Ledbetter, Jimmy Norton, and Hal Justice were pallbearers.
Arrangements wer handled by Bryant Funeral Home. Parents: Larkin Canaday HOLBROOK and Sarah Ann MOORE.
