John F. Peek
John F. Peek, 81 year old Macon County native, died Monday in a Burke County hospital. He had been in declining health for the past two years.
The son of Zachariah and Margaret Peek, he married Miss Minnie Shook, also of Macon County in 1912.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at his chuch Wednesday (yesterday) with Rev. Eldon Owens, pastor, and the Rev. Frank Reed conducting the service. Burial followed in the Surgarfork Baptist Church cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Peek is survived by two sons, Allay Peek, of Franklin, and Adrian Peek, of Greenville S. C.; two daughers, Mrs. Lee Keener, of Route 5, and Mrs. Iva Keener, of Greenville, S. C.; one brother, Carl Peek, of Franklin; and four sisters, Mrs. Clarence Moses, Miss Viola Peek, both of Franklin, Mrs. Lyman Fox, of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Delena Street, of Penrose.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Chruch.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Parents: Zachariah Jackson PEEK and Margaret PEEK.

Mr. Peek
John McKinley Peek, 88, of 127 Walnut Creek Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Angel Community Hospital.
Born in Macon County, he was a son of the late Isaac H. and Mary ann Rogers Peek. A veteran of World War I, Peek was a retired farmer and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Keener Peek; a daughter, Mrs. Algie C. McCall of Franklin; a son, Furman Peek of Franklin; two half sisters, Mrs. Laughton Monteith of Glenville and Mrs. Dan Bishop of Franklin; four half brothers, Leonard, Jim, William and George Peek, all of Franklin; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of Bryant Funeral Home. The Rev. Eldon Owens and Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Fork Baptist Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
