Mrs. Keener
Vesta Pauline Peek Keener, age 68, of the Walnut Creek Community, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan 6 at a local hospital.
She was a native of Macon County, a daughter of Minnie Shook Peek of Franklin and the late Frank Peek. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors , in addition to her mother are: husband, Grover Lee Keener; a daughter, Susan Walker of Franklin; three sons, Frederick M. Keener, Maurice G. (Biff) Keener, and Jackson Lee Keener, all of Franklin; one sister, Frankie Lee Keener of Greenville, S. C.; one brother, Adrian Peek of Greenville, S. C.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan 8 at 2 p.m. at the Cullasaja Assembly of God. Officiating ministers were Revs. R. E. Stephenson, Howard Willis and Earl Dendy. Burial was in the Goldmine Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale McCall, Furman Peek, Gary Peek, Bobby Peek, Bill Stanfield and Veril Holland.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Parents: John Frank PEEK and Minnie M. SHOOK.

William Henry Peek
William Henry Peek, 82, of Franklin, died Thursday, Jan. 25, in a local hospital.
A native of Macon County, he was a son of the late Issac Henry Peek and Ann Houston Peek. He was a retired carpenter and farmer, and a member of Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annivee Edith Ammons Peek; three daughters, Hazel Peek and Edith Peek, both of Franklin, and Dollie Bumgarner of Sylva; two sons, Ernest Peek and Wesley Peek, both of Franklin; two sisters, Sarah Montieth and Lettie Bishop, both of Franklin; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 28, at Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church. Revs. Jerry King and Ernie Sanders officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Peek, Craig Naegler, Jeremy Cabe, Furman Peek, Don Sanders and Ernie Higdon.
