William Francis
Waynesville -- William Herman Francis, 76 of 115 S. Welch St., Waynesville, died Sunday in Asheville Virginia Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Albert and Haseltine Davis Francis. He retired as postmaster from Waynesville Post Office. He was a member of Smoky Mountain Chapter No. 1420 of Association of Federal Employees, Masonic Lodge No. 259 and American Legion Post.
He was a former member of Waynesville Rotary Club and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Stella Roten Francis; two stepsons, Kenneth Stahl of Waynesville and Samuel A. Hall of Asheveill; a sister, Mary E. Francis of Asheville; and four stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Waynesville First Baptist Church. The Revs. David Trammell and George Winecoffe will officiate. Burial will be in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with rites by Masonic Lodge No. 259. The lodge will open at 12:30 p.m.
The family will be at residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Waynesville First Baptist Church.
