Obituary from The Franklin Press, Macon County, North Carolina, dated May 23, 1929:
Mrs. Potts, 67, Highlands Woman Taken By Death
Highlands, May 16.--Mrs. W. T. Potts, 67 years old, died at her home here Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock after a long illness. She recently had undergone an operation.
Mrs. Potts, wife of Rev. W. T. Potts, pastor of the Highlands Baptist church, had lived in Macon county all here life. She had long been a leader in the work of the Baptist church, and had a wide circle of friends, both in and out of her church.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Guy Paul of Highlands and six sons, J. E., S. H., C. C., W. R., S. E., and A. B. Potts.
The funeral services were to be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Baptist church here, with interment following in the Highlands cemetery. Parents: John R. AMMONS and Martha Jane "Mattie" HIGDON.
