Last Rites for Leonard A. Higdon
Leonard A. Higdon, 63, died Wednesday, July 14, at the State Hospital in Morgantown, after an illness of one month.
Mr. Higdon was a life-long resident of the Ellijay section and a member of the Sugarfork Baptist church. In 1913 he married Miss Lula Corbin.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, at the Sugarfork Baptist church at 3:15 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery.
He is survived by tow dauthers, Mrs. Sam Bryson of Baltimore and Mrs. Pauline Harbin of Gastonia; one son, Raby, of the U.S. Navy; four sisters, Mrs. Bill Holbrooks and Mrs Jim McDowell of Otto, Mrs Martha Vanhook of Canton and Mrs. Walter Gibson of Franklin, Route 3, and three grandchildren. Parents: William Washington "Big" HIGDON and Lydia Jane MOORE.

L. B. Higdon, Maconian, Dies At 62
A Macon County native, Leslie Bragg Higdon, died Wednesday night of last week in an Asheville hospital at the age of 62.
A number of friends and relatives from here attended his funeralservices Saturday morning athe the Dunn and Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Asheville. The Rev. R. A. Grant and the Rev. Opyle Brown officiated and burial was in the Green Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Higdon was born in the Higdonville community.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Annie Higdon; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Sluder, of Asheville; tow sisters, Mrs. Nathan Smith, of Raleigh, and Mrs. Columbus Wilson, of Greenville; 10 brothers, Major, A. R., John, Lefferts, Sam, Grayson, and Ted Higdon, all of this county, Charles and Paul Higdon, both of North Brookfield, Mass., and Thomas B. Higdon, of Asheville; and his stepmother, Mrs. T. B. Higdon, of Franklin. Parents: Thomas Bragg HIGDON and Martha Frances "Pattie" RICH.

Death Claims Mrs. Berry, Maconian
Mrs. Tishie Higdon Berry, a Macon native and widow of William Alexander Berry, died December 4 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Teague on Franklin, Route 2.
Funeral services for Mrs. Berry, 79, were conducted Dec. 6 at the Sugarfork Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Officiating were the Rev. Bill Sorrells, the Rev. Paul Sorrells, and the Rev. Glenn Anderson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Daughter of the late Joshia and Mrs. Annie Coggins Higdon, she was born June 18, 1878. She was married Dec. 25, 1902 to Mr. Berry, who died Dec. 2, 1956. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Berry is survived by three sons, Wade of Enfield, Charles of Boonesville, Ky. and W.W. Berry of Franklin, Route 5; a brother, W.R. Higdon, of Route 4; and two sisters, Mrs. Lee Dills and Mrs. Eva Corbin, both of Route 5, 23 grandchildren and eight grand-children.
Grandsons served as pallbearers. Parents: Joshua A. HIGDON and Louisa Annie "Lou" COGGINS.

Mrs. Margaret Bryson, 86, Dies After Short Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Bryson, aged 86, widow of J.K. Bryson were held Sunday afternoon at Sugarfork Baptist Church, of which she had been a member since girlhood. Mrs. Bryson died early Saturday morning after a short illness at her home in Franklin with Mrs. J.M. Moore.
Born in Jackson County, a daughter of Major W. H. Higdon and Jane Buchanan Higdon, Mrs Bryson moved to Macon with her father's family when she was a young girl. Shortly afterward her older brothers were called to the Confederate Army and she did a man's work in her father's fields, wearing the homespun clothes of the day and shoes fashioned for the family by Major Higdon.
Mrs. Bryson was married in 1871 and was the mother of nine children, six of whom survive; Mrs. R.A. Henry, Ventura, Cal.; Mrs. J.W. Briggs, Albany, Ga.; Mrs. W.A. Collins, Knoxville, Tenn.; J.W. Bryson, Rome, Ga; Rev. J.A. Bryson, Columbia, Mo.; Mrs. John M. Moore, Franklin.
One brother, T.B. Higdon, of Higdonville survives; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted by the Rev. E.R. Eller, who was assisted by the Rev. A.S. Solesbee. Pallbearers were Paul Carpenter, Cecil Pendergrass, Robert Blaine, Sam Murrray, Henry Cabe, Cicero Grasty.
Among those attending the funeral were: Mrs. J.W. Briggs, Albany, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Collins, Knoxville, Tenn.; J.W. Bryson, Rome, Ga.; Mrs. J.J. Moore, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Mrs. Paul Kelley, Lawrenceville, Ga.
