In connection with the Utz family I have five related villages, of which some of them have only one photo. The story runs a little better if they are lumped together. The George Utz in question is of the 1717 Colony. We have already had some photos dealing with him, namely
Wagonbach and Hffenhardt.
The first photo, of Haundorf, is where George Utz's grandfather lived at the time he (the grandfather)was married. This village has a church, notable for its wooden tower. One of the streets in the town includes "Schloss"*, which is probably a good indication of how the village started. We have just crossed the border from Baden-Wrttemberg into Bavaria.

Seiderzell Village
One mile down the road from Haundorf is Seiderzell, a collection of a few farms without a church. Seiderzell is where George Utz was born. The country around here is rather flat, and agricultural in nature.

Khnhardt Village
On beyond Seiderzell, about 0.75 mile, is Khnhardt, where George's grandmother, Margaret, lived. Again, it is a collection of a very few farms, without any church or commercial activity.

Mosbach Village
About a mile from Khnhardt is Mosbach, a slightly larger village, with a firestation and a church. People from the surrounding villages, where there were no churches, came into Mosbach. In George Utz's time, many of the marriages and bapisms were performed here.

Mosbach Church
Many of the churches in Germany have oversized towers in comparison to the rest of the church, and this is no exception. Though it seems rather plain on the exterior, it was quite beautiful inside.

Mosbach Church Baptismal Font
This is one of the prettiest baptismal fonts that we saw in Germany. Other features inside the church were equally impressive. The church is not very large.

Mosbach Stork
Here is the picture of a modern resident of Mosbach. I would presume there is another one who looks like this one. Otherwise, all that labor that went into building the next would go to waste.

Bergnerzell Village
About 1.5 miles from Mosbach is Bergnerzell, where several members of the Utz family lived. From here back to Haundorf is 2 miles, and what we have done is travel in a circle. Standing in Mosbach, with a wide angle lens, I could take a picture of the other four villages.
I asked a person here if there were any Utz family members in the neighborhood. He sort of laughed and got a copy of the telephone book and showed me a page and a half of them.
The furthest back that any ancestor of George Utz has been traced is one great-grandmother of Khnhardt.

(* "Schloss" can be translated as a "palace" (a home) without fortifications.) (Comments by Webmaster, GWD.)
