GA, 13 Oct. 1851; to wife Ellen A. with whom I have lived in the strictess quiet and love and (MAD: sic) equal I have with my children by said Ellen A.; appointing friend Seth K. Taylor guardian of person and property of my children by said Ellen A.; appoint wife Ellen A. executrix and friend Seth K. Taylor exec.; wit. Henry H. Herrington, Thomas S. Tuggle, Isaac J.P. Welch. (next item) Nuncupative will of A.B. Duncan, decd, Oct. 16, 1851; we Henry H. Herrington, Isaac Welch and Thomas S. Tuggle were present on 13 Oct. 1851 at residence of Alexander B. Duncan before his death and during his last illness of which he died on the night of the 15th at which time, viz, on 13, in perfect possession of his mental faculties, he called "up" us to take notice of what he was about to say; he now wishes it "is" to understand that his will and desire was, that from the love and affection he has for his mother, Mary Duncan, he wishes her to have $1,000 out of his estate, not-with-standing his written will, and also that my wife Ellen A. Duncan, shall be an equal sharer with my children of all my estate by putting certain property she holds under a deed into hotchpoh?; on the night of the 15th, after making the above request, he breathed his last; signed by Thomas S. Tuggle, H.H. Herrington, Isaac J.P. Welch.

      Pg.249-50, Georgia. ALEXANDER B. DUNCAN, M.D., of Leesburg, GA, was born in Lee Co. GA, February 10, 1849. He is the son of Alexander B. and Ellen A. (Holland) Duncan. Alexander B. was born in Philadelphia, PA, in about 1812, went to New Orleans when twelve years of age, where he was reared and educated. In about 1830 he moved to Albany, GA, where he lived for many years but died in Lee County, in 1852. He was a farmer by occupation and one of the pioneer settlers in Dougherty County. The mother of the subject was born in Jasper Co. GA, in about 1823 and died in 1883. She bore her husband two children, viz.: Alexander B. and Mary E. (MAD: A.B. Duncan Esq. mar. Miss Ellen A. Bryan 5/11/1848 in Lee Co. GA by Rev. Ansley Philips; from pg.449 "Marriages and Obituaries from the "Macon Messenger" [Bibb Co.] 1818-1865" by Willard R. Rocker; FHL book 975.8552/M1 V2r)
      Alexander B. was reared in Lee County and was educated at Albany and Mercer University. In 1866 he commenced to read medicine ... he commenced clerking (1873) in Albany, GA; from there in 1876 he went to Leesburg. He remained in Lee County, farming and clerking, until 1878, when he returned to Albany ... January 10, 1877, he was married to Mrs. Addie H. Cooper, widow of W.C.H. Cooper (deceased), of Albany, GA, and a daughter of Stephen Wright, of Knoxville, GA. To their union were born five children, viz.: Mary F., George F., Edward, Pleman and Stephen A. His wife died May 28, 1883.
