William BECK was born about 1818. He married Hardenia P. TERRILL.

Got this in 1/99 from: Tim and Becky

John, this is really interesting. William BECK may be a Sibling/Father of
Julia BECK who married David SPRADLING. For some reason David and Julia and David's two surviving Siblings (Sisters who were married to a GAY & GARTON) sold land to Joel TERRELL in 1839 just before David left for Rockingham Co.,
VA where he appeared in the 1840 VA Census with his Wife Julia and two Children. He apparently died /deserted/divorced Julia before 1850 as Julia was back in Charlottesville, VA (Albemarle Co.) in the 1850 VA Census using her Maiden name Julia BECK (only time she used it as in the 1860,1870 & 1880 Censuses she was in Charlottesville using her married name SPRADLING and in 1888 in Charlottesville where she died used her married name in her death record).

I have a William BECK that married a Nancy that is in
Charlottesville in the 1850 VA Census. William is 35 and Nancy 41 with a 1/2 year old child Alex BECKs. My David SPRADLING & Julia BECK m. 1828 in
Albemarle Co., VA had their first Child Alex SPRADLING in 1830. That's why I feel this William & Julia are connected. I also think your William and Julia are connected since David and his Wife Julia and David's married Sisters sold that land to Joel for $1 indicating a Family situation. Hopefully those Williams are the same too - or maybe Father/Uncle & Son. I'm also wondering if Hardenia and William divorced after marrying in 1839 in Albemarle or if she died and William remarried Nancy.

I cannot locate a marriage for a William BECK and Hardenia TERRILL in
Albemarle in 1839. I just have the William BECK and Nany GALDING marriage in Albemarle in 1839. Again, they show up in the 1850 VA Census in Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., VA with a 1/2 year old Son named Alex as the only other household member. William is 35 and blind and Nancy is 41.

Hardenia P. TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1820 in , , Virginia. She married William BECK.

Thomas F. TERRILL [Parents] was born on 13 Jan 1820 in Richmond, , Virginia. He died in Paducah, , Kentucky. Thomas married Mary FLETCHER.

Dicken says that he lived in Pacucah and had 7 sons, no dtrs. It is curious that she says that one son died at the age of 18 in Jan. 1875, but does not name him.

Thomas F. Terrell, was born in Richmond, Virginia, but was
reared on a farm in Jefferson and McCracken counties, Kentucky, in both of which counties his father farmed in his latter days.
When twenty-three years of age he married and
settled in Ballard county, of which county he served as sheriff, and which
he afterward represented in the legislature. In 1856 he removed to Paducah
and there became a prominent business man and esteemed citizen.

Mary FLETCHER was born about 1820. She married Thomas F. TERRILL.

There is also a Mary Eliza Fletcher who m. James William Terrell in 1859 (see LDS vital records index).

They had the following children:

  M i Richard G. TERRILL

Fleming TERRILL [Parents] was born on 16 Feb 1778 in Chilesburg, , Virginia. He died in , Randolph Co., Missouri. Fleming married Matilda TERRILL on 23 Dec 1813.

Other marriages:
CONNER, Lucy

Will date 9 Mar 1835 (Ellsberry). Lists wife and children. Names son-in-law, William R. Duerson and grandson William Fleming Bowlware (son of deceased dtr. Lucinda K. Bowlware) as executors. Mentions granddtrs. Elizabeth M. and Mildred but does not give connection. Witnesses: W.R. Samuel, Wm. D. Malone. Found in the 1850 Randolph Co. MO census as age 75, wife Matilda age 62. Ellsberry in her bulletin lists these 5 children and also lists a "George W. Terrill" as son of Fleming. She has spouses on all others and none on this George. I don't know what her source is for this. At another place in her bulletin she gives Fleming's will as 9 Mar 1835, so don't know which is right. She also gives Fleming's birthdate as 1778 in Chilesburg, VA, but I am using 1775 as he is shown as 75 on 1850 census.

From _History of Randolph and Macon Counties:

Huntsville Lodge No. 30, A. F. and A. M.: chartered by the Grand lodge of
MO Oct 8, 1840. There are only 3 names of charter members that appear on records. Edward SLATER, Fleming TERRILL, Thomas P. COATES.

The booklet, "Original Land Purchases of Randolph County, Missouri" by Cecille Taylor Rice, pub. by the Randolph County Historical Society has this on him:

Terrell, Fleming Jan, 14 & 15 1836 purchased 153 and 72 acres. On Oct 11, 1841, he purchased another 40 acres. These are on pp 14 & 15 original book.

I may have some information for you.
Fleming Terrell (b 16 Feb 1778 - from the old Dicken Terrill genealogy) m 3 Feb 1800 Caroline Co., Va., Lucy Connor - the last record I have for Lucy is on 1 Jun 1812 when she appears on a court notice. She was the daughter of Sarah Woolfolk & Francis Connor - he was an officer in the ARW & seems to have died as a result of the war. His widow recorded his estate as per Caroline Co., Va. Order Book. Her mother Sarah died in 1816 & her will is one of the few that remains in Caroline Co., Va. (I have a photo copy)

Caroline Co., Va. Guardian Bonds 1806-1821
10 Jul 1815 - Fleming Terrell was appointed gdn to his children with Timothy Chandler & Samuel Luck his securities - they were: Lucinda K. Terrell, Francis W. Terrell, (tear)E. Terrell, George F. Taylor, Sarah W. Taylor -

NOTE: so you can see that all these children were born before 1815 & since Lucy died
sometime between 1 Jun 1812 & 23 Dec 1813 when he remarried - their birth dates are
different than you have -

Fleming was at one time Sheriff of Caroline Co -

23 Dec 1813 - Fleming married Matilda Terrell - if Fleming has a daughter, Harriet then she must be a child of Matilda .

Lucinda Keeling Terrel b 1800 m 19 Jul 1819 William Bouleware
Francis Woolfolk Terrell bc 1804
Anne Elizabeth Terrell b 30 Mar 1807 & d 4 Jan 1881, m 12 Feb 1828 - George Slaughter b 9 Jul 1802 & d 18 Dec 1867 - they had 8 children with the glorious names like Lucicus Quintas Cincinatas, Thaddeus Roscivco, Flammancia Francis - (dates from Slaughter Gen & bible)

Matilda TERRILL [Parents] was born on 18 Mar 1789 in , , Virginia. She married Fleming TERRILL on 23 Dec 1813.

No children of this marriage to her second cousin according to Ellsberry.

They had the following children:

  F i Harriet G. TERRILL

Thomas Scattergood TERRILL [Parents] was born on 24 Feb 1794 in , , Virginia. He married Margaret N. MERIWETHER in Sep 1820 in , , Virginia.

Was a major. See note under husband of dtr. Susan.

Margaret N. MERIWETHER [Parents] was born about 1803. She married Thomas Scattergood TERRILL in Sep 1820 in , , Virginia.

Marriage bond posted 18 Sep 1820. She had consent of James Terrill, her guardian. Since it is known that James Hunter Terrill was guardian of Thomas Meriwether's orphans, I have placed her as his dtr. Some persons think that she is the dtr. of Nicholas Hunter Meriwether and Rebecca Terrill (#3159)

They had the following children:

  F i Margaret N. TERRILL was born about 1821.
M ii Charles N. TERRILL Dr. was born about 1823.
F iii Anna TERRILL was born about 1825.
M iv Lucian B. TERRILL was born about 1827.
  M v Samuel D. TERRILL was born about 1829.

Following inquiry was published in 1963: "Need par. and dates on Samuel Terrell, m. 1848, Susan Ruthie Hill of Chester, S.C. Was Samuel's father Wm.? Was he from PA? Or was Samuel Terrell a desc. of the Terrells of VA? Mrs. Forrest B. Doshier, 1501 Rusk, Amarillo, Texas." Don't know if any connection with this one and it is probably to late to answer it in 1990.
  M vi J. D. TERRILL Dr.
F vii Rebecca TERRILL was born about 1831.
M viii Thomas TERRILL was born about 1835.
M ix James TERRILL was born about 1837.

Not known if it is him, but have a James William Terrell who m. Mary Eliza Fletcher 25 Aug 1859 in Callaway, MO (LDS Index Records).
  F x Susan H. TERRILL

Thomas MERIWETHER was born about 1767. He died before 1806. Thomas married Nancy Ann MINOR in 1791.

In his mother's will 1806-1812, he is named as deceased.

Nancy Ann MINOR [Parents] was born in 1771. She died in 1820. Nancy married Thomas MERIWETHER in 1791.

They had the following children:

  F i Margaret N. MERIWETHER

J. D. TERRILL Dr. [Parents] was born in 1830. He died in 1910 in , , Idaho. J. married Frances CORBETT in 1864.

Dicken says that one of the sons of Thomas was Dr. J.D. Terrill, but does not list him like this with the other children. Dicken says that J.D. was of "Pocatello, Idaho". It is possible that J.D. and the James she does list are one and the same, but James is listed as child no. 8, and J.D. is not likely to be that late in the order with a birthdate of 1830, with parents marrying 1820.

Frances CORBETT was born in 1840. She died in 1892. Frances married J. D. TERRILL Dr. in 1864.

Robert E. MERIWETHER was born about 1810. He died in 1860 in , Ballard Co., Kentucky. Robert married Susan H. TERRILL.

Susan H. TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1839. She married Robert E. MERIWETHER.

Moved to Mississippi.

They had the following children:

  M i Thomas J. MERIWETHER was born about 1840.
  M ii Douglas MERIWETHER
M iii Robert E. MERIWETHER was born about 1845.
F iv Margaret N. MERIWETHER was born about 1848.
  F v Mary E. MERIWETHER was born about 1850.
vi Mayo C. MERIWETHER was born about 1853.
