There was an entry in the Terrell Trails newsletter, Summer 1996, which quotes chapter nine of the book, "The Tyrrells of England" by the late O.F. Brown. It says: "The legatees of Robert Tyrrold of Hagbourne in the county of Berkshire, whose will was proved on the 13th August 1545, included his four sons, William, David, Richard & Avery. The executor of the will of David Turrolde, husbandman of West Hagbourne, which was proved on the 15th of January 1577/8 was his only son William. In the will of his son, Willyam Tyrrold, yeoman of West Hagbourne, which was proved on 9th October 1587 by his wife Elizabeth, he left land and goods jointly to her and his son Davy. His other two sons, Francys & Robart, inherited 40 pounds plus land, etc., when they reached age of 21 years provided they leave and yield the land to brother Davy, when he reached 21. One of the overseers of the will of David Torrell of Reading, clothier, the probate date of which was 30th October 1632, was his brother, Robert Torrell of Reading, clothier. The will of Francis Tyrroll of Reading, broadweaver, named his brother, Robert Tyrrell as an overseer and had the probate date of the 2nd of October 1838...There appears little doubt that these three brothers, David, Francis & Robert were the sons of William of West Hagbourne." I earlier had the line tied into kings of England. This changes the tie-in that I thought was there, but it is likely to still exist some other way.

Some give her father as William Richmond. The name Richmond is popular for generations of Terrills thereafter, mostly in America. Some give her first name as Margaret. This may be the royalty line, which is no longer thought possible.

Mentioned in the will of his brother, Robert, a merchant in the city of London. Will 20 Oct 1677, proved 23 Nov. 1677, leaves money to brothers Richmond and William and to William "son of brother William".
Martha was born about 1630. She married William TERRILL.
Her last name is given as "Washington" by one source, but not known if this is correct, or merely an attempt to tie in George's line.

Timothy TERRELL [Parents] was born in 1631 in Reading, , , England and was christened on 22 Jun 1631 in Reading, , , England. He died on 20 Aug 1656 in , , England. Timothy married Dorothy COLLARD.
Note from the Terrell Bulletin: "The parish registers of All Hallows record the baptisms of three sons to Timothy and Dorothy Tyrrell: Avery, 28 Aug 1647; William, 25 Aug 1650 (buried 9 Oct 1651); and Timothy, 5 Dec 1656. The father's will does not mention Avery, so presumably he died before 1656, although his death is not recorded in the registers. It is highly probable that the Timothy who m. Elizabeth Foster in VA and had sons Robert in 1697 and Joseph in 1699 was the posthumous son of Timothie of All Hallows. From the above, it can be seen that the three early settlers in Virginia were, most probably, descendants of Robert & Agnes of West Hagbourne in Berkshire, now part of Oxfordshire, and not as has been suggested, of the Tyrrells of Thornton." There is a confusion in my mind whether this is referring to this Timothy #3490, or Timothy #10218.

Husband's name given in her brother's will. Another source gives dob as 17 Aug. 1623.
Chiles TERRILL [Parents] was born on 26 Mar 1780 in , Albemarle Co., Virginia. He died in 1851 in , McCracken Co., Kentucky. Chiles married Mary Cordelia UPSHAW on 14 May 1810 in , King & Queen Co., Virginia.
Lived first in Richmond, VA., where he kept a boarding school for 15 years; advertisements for which appear in the Richmond papers of the time. In Oct. of 1877, they moved to Louisville, Kty. They were the parents of 14 children, 6 of whom died under age 3. They reared 4 sons and 4 dtrs. They were married at the home of Mary's brother, Edwin.
Chiles Terrell, a practical surveyor, who came from Virginia to McCracken county, Kentucky, as early as 1826, with his son J.H. Terrell, then eleven years of age, and surveyed a large portion of the land in said county. Chiles Terrell was no ordinary man. He was highly educated. After doing the above mentioned surveying he returned to Virginia, and in the year 1827 he removed to Louisville, Kentucky, and in 1828 was professor of mathematics in the Jefferson Seminary. He came to McCracken county in 1839, and died here in 1851, aged seventy-one years. He married Mary C. Upshaw, who died in 1836.
Mary Cordelia UPSHAW was born on 17 Jul 1788 in , Essex Co., Virginia. She died on 13 Aug 1836 in , , Kentucky. Mary married Chiles TERRILL on 14 May 1810 in , King & Queen Co., Virginia.
Died about 15 miles from Louisville, Kty., where living at the time.
