Benjamin ARTHUR was born on 27 Apr 1737 in Lynchburg, , Virginia. He died on 27 Mar 1820 in Bedford, , Virginia. Benjamin married Sarah TERRILL on 26 Nov 1781.

In October of 1996, I received a letter from Laura Tasset Koehn, PO Box 1872, Dodge City, KS 67801. She gave me the info on the first wife of this man and said that his parents were killed by Indians. She gave no explanation about the two having the same last name. It is interesting that the son of his marriage to Ann Arthur, William Arthur, also married an Arthur (Joanna). Since her line is not from Sarah Terrill, there is no connection.

Sarah TERRILL [Parents] was born on 10 Jan 1755. She married Benjamin ARTHUR on 26 Nov 1781.

John RICHARDSON was born on 12 Nov 1762 in , Bedford Co., Virginia. He died on 6 Jun 1840 in , Highland Co., Ohio. John married Mary TERRILL on 7 Nov 1782 in , Campbell Co., Virginia.

In June, 1995, I received a letter from Lena Wilson, 45323 Park Sierra Dr., #236, Coarsegold, CA 93614-9109. She said that this John Richardson and Mary Terrell were her direct ancestors and that she had a copy of his Rev. War pension application. The Richardson line, here came from her.

Married second time, husband listed by Dicken.

James Hunter TERRILL [Parents] was born on 8 Sep 1784. He died in 1856. James married Susan VIBERT.

Said to have been a Captain in the War of 1812. He married a widow and she must have died previous to the date of his will, 9 Aug, 1854, proved 7 Apr 1856. He was a great lover of music and played two or three instruments himself. Not having any children, they often entertained young people who were musicians, and their home became known as "music hall". It is said that he adopted Dr. James Hunter Minor, son of Samuel Overton Minor, whose parents were Garrett Minor and his wife Mary Overton Terrill (Dicken). Dr. J.H. Minor m. Mary W. Morris and James Hunter Terrill left his home and part of his land to Dr. Minor, and part of the land was left to this wife's niece. He had over 80 slaves, and his will provided that they were to be freed and sent to Liberia, if they so desired. The will provided the money for their trip. J.H. and his wife were buried in a private cemetary near his home.

Susan VIBERT was born about 1784. She married James Hunter TERRILL.

"From Mass."

LUCK was born about 1775. He married Molly TERRILL.

Nothing is known of her except her married name. Sister Milly named a "Joel Luck" in her estate, and he may have been Molly's son. Will also mentions a John K. Luck, who is also likely her son. Records show that a Joel T. Luck married 8 June 1835 Nicey Lynch Terrill (b. 1812, dtr. of Lemuel Terrill).

Joel TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1775 in , , Virginia. He died in 1851. Joel married Lucy MARSHALL in Oct 1806 in , Culpeper Co., Virginia.

Rev. Wood, in his "Albemarle County in Virginia" mentioned Joel Terrill and his wife Lucy moving to Charlottsville, VA. in 1828. He was referred to as a son of Christopher Terrill and ______ Parish. In Spottsylvania records was mention of the will of Joel Parish dated 21 March 1791, who named his son-in-law Christopher Terrill. (Va. Co. Rec. Vol. 1, p.47). Since this son is named Joel, this would be a good case for Joel to be the son of the second
wife and named after the wife's father. However, In Albemarle Co., Virginia
is a land deed made by Christopher Terrill and wife Mary to his son Joel dated 5 Jan 1805 (D.B. 15, p. 165). Therefore, Mary was still alive at the time, and must have been Joel's mother. Joel had 8 dtrs. and 1 son. Ellsberry lists 3 other children: George, Lucy, and Almira.
