- The Boykin family in Virginia may have
migrated from New England to Virginia. However, the first
Boykin appears in Virginia records in 1670 as Edward Boykin. In
Alabama, they represented the State and U.S. Congress. In
Alabama there is Boykin's Settlement. Here we have a Boykin in
Alabama where "Ike" Boykin was born. Francis Boykin (Boiakin)
in 1791 went to Mississippi Territory. There are many references to
Major Francis Boykin in Georgia and Mississippi Territory, later in Alabama.
In the 1825 July term of the Washington County Alabama Court,
the estate of Major Francis Boykin was valued at $2,258 personal
property.
