Thomas William WALTON was born in 1834. He died in 1877/1880. Thomas married Stella Amelia TERRILL in 1865.

Was a major in the Civil War, according to Terrill Jones:

If this is him in this article in the Moberly Daily Monitor, it speaks of a dtr. dying that I did not know of (and calls him a Capt.):

Walton, Willie -- d. 14 Jan 1878 at Roanoke, aged 7y, (d\o Capt. T. W. Walton) ; MDM Friday 8 Feb 1878

Stella Amelia TERRILL [Parents] was born in 1851 in , , Missouri. She died in 1877. Stella married Thomas William WALTON in 1865.

This note gives spouse for Stella:

When my husband and I went to the cemeteries on Memorial Day, I saw Robert Walton's gravestone located near the Collier family burial sites in
Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Joshua Thompson TERRILL [Parents] was born on 26 Sep 1855 in , , Missouri. He died on 4 Oct 1935 and was buried in Oakland Cem., Moberly, Missouri. Joshua married Lena L. EVANS.

Dates are from his tombstone; it is assumed that this is the same Thomas J. who is the son of Joshua, but not proven. His name is given as Joshua Thompson Terrill in DAR below email 3/99 from: "Stephen L. Willson"

[According to the DAR application on Jennie (TERRILL) VERMILLION,

Parents: Joshua Thompson TERRILL(1854- ) and Levi EVANS(1859 -)
Grandparents: Joshua Willis TERRILL(1821-1862) and Matilda WALTON(1823-1888) Great-grandparents: John TERRILL(1768-1850) and Rebecca CORNELIUS (1773- )

Not only did W.L.T. EVANS marry a TERRILL, so did Francis Marion EVANS. He married Elizabeth TERRILL, daughter of James and Henrietta (CONNERS)
TERRILL and then her half- sister Lucretia "Crete" TERRILL, daughter of
James and Eliza (CRISLER) TERRILL. Is this the F. M. EVANS listed above? I
am asking because I am not sure.]

The below marriage record:

Married on the 18th day of January, 1877, at the residence of the bride's father, by Elder W. L. T. EVANS, Mr. J. Thompson TERRILL, of Howard County,
and Miss Lennie L. EVANS, daughter of F. M. EVANS, Moberly.

J. T. TERRILL, farmer, was born in Howard county one mile north of Armstrong, January 5th, 1854. He is a son of the late Rev. J. W. TERRILL. He was raised to manhood on the Terrill homestead on which he now resides. When the war broke out in 1861 he went with his parents to Texas, returning with them to Missouri in 1866 after the war was over. He was educated in the public schools and at Mount Pleasant College, Huntsville, Mo. He was married January 18th, 1887 to Miss LENIE EVANS, of Moberly, Mo. They have six children, 3 boys and three girls. Since returning home from Texas Mr. Terrill has resided in Howard county with the exception of 3 years that he farmed successfully in Chariton county, six miles north of Salisbury. He owns an extra good farm of 155 acres 1 mile north of Armstrong, and is in good circumstances financially. He was elected director of the Armstrong public school in April, 1895. Mr. Terrill takes great interest in educational affairs and one of his chief objects in life is to give his children a good education. He is a member of the Baptist church and the Royal Tribe of Joseph Lodge. Mr. Terrill is a man that attends strictly to his own affairs and is well liked by his fellowman.

Lena L. EVANS [Parents] "Lennie" was born in 1860 in Randolph Co., MO. She married Joshua Thompson TERRILL.

I got this 8/99 from Tony :

The Father of "Miss Lennie L. EVANS, daughter of F. M. EVANS, Moberly.", this is the Francis Marion Evans I am looking for. He was my GGgrandfather, and his second wife Lucretia Ann Terrill my GGgrandmother. His first wife was Lucretia's sister Mary Elizabeth Terrill.

The Elder W.L.T Evans, could possibly be Lennie brother Luther T. Evans born in 1863 in Randolph County(?). I have no indication on what the W. would stand for. As I have said before the Moberly Deskin Cemetery was from what I have been told the Evans homestead. So it would be in the realm of possibility that the family was a very strong religious force in the area, so Luther could have possibly been an elder at a very young age(?) I also have Linnie's given name Lena L. Evans born in 1860 in Randolph County. She had 4 brothers and 4 sisters. I need help in locating additional info on this line.

They had the following children:

  F i Jennie TERRILL

Franklin FUGATE was born on 26 Nov 1846. He died on 28 Aug 1895 in , Howard Co., Missouri. Franklin married Laura R. TERRILL on 4 Mar 1873 in , Randolph Co., Missouri.

The below was put on the Howard County newsgroup 5/99 and may be related:

"I found Townsend Fugate in the Fugate Family Newsletter of August 1986
reported by R. W. Evans according to papers of Janie Laughrey of Liberty, MO
as follows:

Townsend/Tounson Fugate/Fugitt of Kentucky was a Revolutionary solder who
married Malinda Cooper in VA. They went to NC on the Yadkin River waiting
one year for the immigration of Daniel Boone to KY to Boonesboro; he was
later on deeds and tax records in Mercer Co and Lincoln Co. In 1819, his
heirs were Francis Wiles, Nancy Fugate, Hiram Fugate, Polina Todd, Rachel
Brown, Blanton Fugate, Elizabeth Reynolds, Thurza Durbin, all residents of
Howard Co, MO.

My ggggrandfather John Fugate, was the son of Colbert Fugate who was born abt 1759 so clearly could not have been in direct line of Townsend whom you
estimated was born 1758. I would suggest you query the Fugate Forum for
Townsend's parents."

Rod Fugate

Laura R. TERRILL [Parents] was born in Mar 1855 in , , Missouri. She married Franklin FUGATE on 4 Mar 1873 in , Randolph Co., Missouri.

I received this inquiry 8/98 from [email protected]

Do you have anything on Franklin Fugate who married Laura Terrell on 4 Mar
1873 and had 6 children?
His father and mother were buried near Glasgow and we are looking for a local descendant that could spearhead a cleanup of their cemetery on the Himmelberg farm.

Thank you,
Rod Fugate

I later discovered that this is the Laura who married him as this was in the newspaper:

Fugate, Franklin -- mar. 4 Mar 1873 Laura R. Terrill at bride's father Elder Joshua W. Terrill, of Howard Co., by Elder W.L.T. Evans; THH 19 Mar 1873

Oliver TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1792. He married Patsy TURPIN in 1820.

Patsy TURPIN was born about 1800. She married Oliver TERRILL in 1820.

Henry Towles TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1802. He married Francis Walthall TURPIN on 9 Feb 1826.

My resource for this information lists the youngest child as being "Toles" Terrill. He and sister Polly are listed as orphans at father's death.
Named after his father's aunt, Judith Towles, wife of Robert Terrill (#3042). This Robert's son, Henry, also named a son Henry Towles Terrill (#4580), after his mother. Possibly # 4192 is one and the same as this man, but he has listed a wife Patsy Jones, whom he married in 1819.

Francis Walthall TURPIN was born about 1806. She married Henry Towles TERRILL on 9 Feb 1826.

They had the following children:

F i Ann TERRILL was born on 23 Nov 1826.
  M ii Edmund TERRILL
F iii Martha Jane TERRILL was born on 27 Apr 1831.
M iv Clelland TERRILL was born on 4 Feb 1834.
F v Eliza TERRILL was born on 22 Oct 1836.
M vi John H. TERRILL was born on 29 May 1839.

It is a slim possibility that this could be talking about him:

"History of Bourbon, Scott, Harrison and Nicholas Counties, Kentucky, ed. by William Henry Perrin, O. L. Baskin & Co., Chicago, 1882. p. 559. [Bourbon County] [Clintonville Precinct]

ROBERT M. TERRELL, farmer, P. O. Clintonville; comes of the Union of two good Kentucky families, in the persons of John H. Terrell, and Ethe McGill, daughter of Robert McGill of Bourbon County. The senior Terrell was born in Virginia, but followed the tide of emigration; came to Kentucky, where, by the exercise of his manly qualities, amassed a large fortune, and died respected by the entire community. His son, Robert M., was born Dec. 3, 1850, and was married, in 1868, to Miss Alice Weighert. They have three children: Sallie, Edward and Willie. Mrs. Terrell is a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Terrell is a farmer; owns 300 acres
of good land, upon which he raises the usual variety of Kentucky crops, and pays some attention to stock; he is a Turnpike Director, and a staunch Democrat."
M vii Salem Wallace TERRILL was born on 7 Aug 1842.

Elizabeth TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1791. She married Henry P. BAFORD on 27 Apr 1807.

The family bible that gives these marriage dates also says that "Elizabeth Baford m. George Banton on 2 Nov 1819."

Thomas H. DOUGLASS was born in Feb 1785. He died on 10 Jan 1847 and was buried in , Jackson Co., Missouri. Thomas married Mary Ann "Mirian" TERRILL on 12 Sep 1815.

The 1830 Madison Co., Kty census, p. 165, lists Thomas Douglass, wife, 8 children, and 11 slaves. Bk. V, p. 167, Sept. 10, 1833, Thomas H. Douglass and his wife, Miram Douglass, sold 83 1/2 acres on Silver Creek to Mathias Pullins of Garrard Co., Kty for $472.82 "gold and silver in hand" and other land. The land bought in Jackson Co., MO, indicates that the family arrived there about 1826. Actually, the obituary of child Permelia, b. 1822, states that "she had traveled on horseback from her old home in Kty to Mo when whe was 14 yrs old." The 1840 Jackson Co., Mo census lists 19 persons in the household - 9 of whom were slaves in addition to Thomas, wife and 8 children. They settled along the old Osage Indian Trace, along with the surnames, Franklin, Dixon, Chiles, Hughes, Sinclair, Potts, Hudspeth, Kittle, Rice, Peace, Corn, Sanders, etc. When Thomas and Miriam died, they left 6 minor children, for whom the guardians were appointed by the court to administer, for their benefits, estate proceeds. Thomas's will was probated Oct 14, 1847, R.C. Eckles, Administrator, Bonds in the amounts of $8,000 and $12,000 were signed by J.H. Sanders and W.G. Chiles. Final settlement was April 6, 1852, Bk. Do not know if this is the same one, but someone sent me this info:

Here is a list of Lucy's children,
see if there is a naming pattern. Clara, Travis, James H., Robert,

This is same Mary (Polly). I have same children of Edmund that you have. Mary was born on June 16, 1805 in Orange Co. Va.. ( She was my g g grandmother) and married John Stone from Mad. Kty on Feb 17. 1822. I only know of one son (my great grandfather) Edmund T Stone but am sure there were other older children. John died in Ma. Co Kty in 1829 and she died in Clay Co Mo.in 1839 and is buried in Bethel Cem. there. She had to be quite a lady cause she must have taken children to Mo after the death of her husband. E.T. as her son was called was only 10 and was probably listed as orphan on some records and I have had a hard time tracing him. My inf comes directly from inf supplied by
family so feel it is quite accurate. This is quite a family with lots of interesting accomplishments in their history.

They had the following children:

  M i Edmund T. STONE was born in 1829.

Listed as age 10 and an orphan when mother died in 1839.

Lincoln Co. circuit judge in New Mexico - a close friend of Pat Garrett during the reign of Billy The Kid (met "Billy" in court several times) and put 3000 sheep right next to the Chism Cattle ranch in Roswell N.M.
