Henry Kumler, Hr., in an article in the "Religious Telescope" mentioned that he had been in Missouri and had contacted one John Terrel, living in Jasper County, Missouri. It seems that Missouri already had a United Brethren conference in the process of formation and John Terrel was one of the preachers in it. John Terrel had mentioned to Kumler a desire "That his brother Josiah in Illinois come and see him" adding "May the Lord grant that some our brethren may come over to Missouri and help us." This article, by Henry Kumler, appeared in 1852.
