Governor's office contained a list of Justices and military officers
in the different counties. In that book, p. 197, Wake County, was
Solomon Terrell First Major, dated 1796. The name Solomon Terrell
appears in Revolutionary Army Accounts, Vol. IX, p. 84, Folio 3, and
Jeptha Terrell in Vol. I, p. 98, Folio 2.

Solomon Terrell was first married to Amelia Robertson b. 5 Feb.
1755, d. 20 Aug. 1798. Their marriage bond dated 29 Sept 1778 in Wake
County, NC. Solomon was married second to Nancy Wall in Wake County
25 Aug. 1801. She was b. 1 Mar. 1771, d. 25 Mar. 1867. After the
death of Solomon Terrell, she m. second Joseph Horn in 1820.

Amelia ROBERTSON was born on 5 Feb 1755. She died on 20 Aug 1798 in , Wake Co., NC. Amelia married Solomon TERRILL on 29 Sep 1778 in Wake Co., NC.

One person says that she was the widow of Richard Robertson before she married Solomon, and her maiden name may have been Spain, with parents Frederick Spain and Mary Roberts.

I received this email 10/99 from Sharon Withers talking about the error on my other page...Solomon Terrell:

Hi John,

have enjoyed your Terrell/Terrill page. On the Solomon Terrell gedcom, there is an ENORMOUS error that is causing many problems. Solomon Terrell who married Elizabeth Campbell and died in Knox County, KY is NOT the son of Jeptha/Jeptho Terrell. This Solomon Terrell is my line and, after working on it for years, I agree that the Solomon son of Jeptha/Jeptho is the one who married Amelia Robertson and died in Wake County (the information is correct on your own Terrell page). If you could kill this erroneous piece of information, it would be much appreciated. I am a descendent of Jeptha Terrell through his daughter Obedience who married William Mays.

Martha Sophronia TERRILL [Parents] was born on 10 Dec 1845 in Williamson Co., TN. She died on 19 Sep 1905 in Williamson Co., TN. Martha married Abner BOYD on 20 Oct 1863 in Williamson Co., TN.

Joel TERRILL [Parents] was born in 1774. He died in 1820 in Nash County, NC. Joel married Polly BUNN in 1812 in Nash County, NC.

BIO: Joel Terrell, II, a lawyer, b. about 1774, d. Feb. 1820, moved
from Warren to Nash County, NC about 1816. He was in the House of
Commons from Nash in 1817 and in the Senate in 1819. (Wheeler Vol.
II, p. 276). His obituary also stated he was Senator from that
county.

He m. Polly Bunn in Nash County in 1812. They had no children.
After his death, she m. second a Mr. Battle.

On page 86 of the Ayres reference, Mrs. Ayres writes: "Concerning
Joel Terrell, Miss Kelly (Maud McClure Kelly) says: 'Joel Terrell of
Warren Co., Joel Terrell, Jr. and Joel Terrell of Warrenton, were the
same man. He was the son of Joel and Elizabeth (Rush) Terrell, and
the brother of Tolliver, John, James and Hezekiah, named on these
deeds.'" The deeds referred to are listed beginning at page 86 of the
Ayres reference.

Polly BUNN was born about 1775. She married Joel TERRILL in 1812 in Nash County, NC.

John Dabney BENNETT was born about 1800. He married Elizabeth TERRILL on 29 May 1820.

Elizabeth TERRILL [Parents] was born on 22 Dec 1803 in North Carolina. She died on 1 Jan 1835 in Tennessee. Elizabeth married John Dabney BENNETT on 29 May 1820.

Hezekiah TERRILL [Parents] was born on 3 Feb 1815 in Williamson Count, TN. He died on 4 Mar 1888 in Maury County, TN. Hezekiah married Margaret Smith DABNEY on 20 Dec 1838.

BIO: Hezekiah Terrell, IV, son of Polly House and James Terrell, b. in Williamson County, TN, 3 Feb. 1815, d. 4 Mar. 1888 in Maury County,
TN. He married, 20 Dec 1838, Margaret Smith Dabney, great
granddaughter of John Dabney, of Albemarle County, VA, and his wife,
Ann Harris. Their son, John Dabney, m. Margaret Smith and moved
south. Their son, Charles Anderson Dabney, m. Nancy Poythress Wall,
and they were the parents of Mrs. Hezekiah Terrell.

Dr. Hezekiah Terrell, after finishing medical college, began
practice in 1843.

Margaret Smith DABNEY was born on 3 May 1820. She married Hezekiah TERRILL on 20 Dec 1838.
