Crawford County was named after Colonel William Crawford. He fought in the American Revolution and the Indian wars and was a close friend of George Washington.
The city of Bucyrus is the county seat of Crawford County. Waters in one part of the city flow north to Lake Erie and in another section they flow south to the Ohio River.
Principle industries include; machinery, metals, transportation equipment, rubber, locomotive cranes, fluorescent lamps, roller bearings, truck bodies, steel castings, plastics, nonferrous foundry products and machinery. The agricultural product is hogs.
