1061. Giles SLOCUM-23670 (Ruth TRIPP , Isaac TRIPP , Job TRIPP , Anne SISSON , Richard ) was born on 5 Jan 1759 in Warwick, Kent Co., Rhode Island. He died on 14 Nov 1826 in Schuylerville, Saratoga Co., New York. He was buried in Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga, New York.

Giles Slocum served as a private in the Lower Wilkes Barre Company at the Battle of Wyoming 3 July 1778. He escaped the slaughter by swimming to Monockonack Island in the Susquehanna River. He served as a private in Captain John Franklin's Company, Wyoming Militia, General Sullivan's Expedition against the Indians in 1779. He served in the 1st Company, 5th Regiment, Connecticut Militia, 1781-1782. About 1783 he removed to Dover, Dutchess County, New York, and about 1786 to Saratoga Township where his residence just east of Stafford's Bridge was frequently used for town meetings. He was a farmer, innkeeper, and merchant. About 1806 he removed to Claverack, Columbia County, New York, where he remained until 1815. About 1815 he returned to Saratoga and settled three miles west of the Village of Schuylerville where he died in 1826. He was a member of the Society of Friends. He made several western trips in search of his sister Frances who was captured by Indians in 1778.

Giles married (MRIN:8880) Sarah ROSS-23671, daughter of Jeremiah ROSS-23673 and Anne PAINE-23674 (MRIN:8881). Sarah was born on 11 Feb 1750 in Scotland, Windham Co., Connecticut. She died on 22 Nov 1820 in Saratoga, New York. She was buried in Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga, New York.
