108. Peleg SISSON-420 (Thomas , George , Richard ) was born in 1720 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died in Dec 1799 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

Besides the children named for Peleg and his first wife, Rebecca Ingraham, there were probably other children.  Some sources call his first wife Jane Ingraham. Peleg and his second wife Content Lamphere West, widow of Timothy West, were married by Joseph Crandall at Brightman's Pond, Westerly, RI. Peleg's will was dated November 27, 1798, and was proved December 30, 1799. It named his wife Content, and sons Elisha, Sanford, Barney, Joseph, and Peleg. Some sources list Peleg with children Esther, Lucy, Rebecca, and Catherine. These are in fact the children of Peleg's son, Peleg Jr.

Peleg married (MRIN:102) Rebecca INGRAHAM-463 about 1742 in Brightman's Pond, Westerly, Washington Co., Rhode Island. Rebecca was born about 1723.

According to the Sisson Newsletter, v 6 #1 p 14, "Among Gerry's [Sisson's] records we found unconfirmed information that the first wife of Peleg, v 1 #4 p 7, was _Rebecca_ Ingraham. It appears reasonable since there is a granddaughter named Rebecca. Recent correspondence from John Deland of Utah also mentions this. If anyone has confirmation, please let us know."

112. Jane SISSON-34 (John , George , Richard ) was born about 1714 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. She died before 1768 in Foster, Providence Co., Rhode Island.

Jane Sisson may have been born about 1714 in Tiverton or Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Jane Sisson is mentioned in her grandfather George Sisson's will of August 20, 1718, as "daughter of John." Jane and her husband Hugh Cole moved in 1750 to Scituate. She is buried in the Peabody Burying Ground, Newport, Rhode Island. It is not clear whether Hugh Cole married Jane Sisson, the daughter of John Sisson (Richard 1, George 2) and Jane Peabody, or Jane Sisson, the daughter of George (Richard 1, George 2) and Mercy Ann Warren. Indeed the two Janes may be one person, born to George and Mercy, but taken in by John and Jane. It has been published both ways. Sources: "Luther Family: Descendants of Capt. Jane married (MRIN:31) Hugh COLE Jr.-28 on 13 Aug 1730. Hugh was born on 19 Sep 1706 in Swansea, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. He died in Foster, Providence Co., Rhode Island.

Hugh Cole's line is given in the Cole genealogy as James [1], Hugh [2], [3], [4], [5], and in the Luther genealogy as John [1], Samuel [2], Martha (Luther) Cole [3], Hugh Cole [4]. It is not clear whether Hugh Cole married Jane Sisson, the daughter of John Sisson (Richard 1, George 2) and Jane Peabody, or Jane Sisson, the daughter of George (Richard 1, George 2) and Mercy Ann Warren. Indeed the two Janes may be one person, born to George and Mercy, but taken in by John and Jane. It has been published both ways.

121. Joseph SISSON-2550 (James , George , Richard ) was born on 22 Jun 1714 in Tiverton, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died on 19 May 1757 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

Joseph and Bathsheba were married by William Brown, Justice. After Joseph died, the first three sons were taken under guardianship, John by his grandfather James, and Joseph and James by their mother. Those three are named in James' will recorded in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Bathsheba applied for administration of Joseph's estate. Inventory: L3840-16s.

Joseph married (MRIN:1281) Bathsheba COOK-2267, daughter of John COOK-11789 and Alice SOUTHWORTH-13612 (MRIN:1282), on 23 Dec 1736 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. Bathsheba was born on 30 Mar 1712.

Bathsheba is named in her father's will of 1748; and she is mentioned in Joseph's father's will dated March 23, 1775 as "Basthsheba Sisson, wife of my son Joseph, deceased." On November 23, 1795, at the age of 83, Bathsheba released her sons from financial support. On March 11, 1799 James was granted administration of the estate of his mother. Inventory: $66.

George Sisson's children Cook, Abigail, and George Jr., and George Jr.'s wife Anna, and George and Anna's children Preserved, Elizabeth, Anna Sisson Sherman and Ruth Sisson Potter, are all buried in the Sisson Lot on Sea Meadow Drive in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. This is on the east side of East Main Road just opposite Quaker Hill, about 1 1/2 miles north of Mintwater Brook Farm, on land that seems to have passed from Richard (1) to his son George and to George's son James.

George married (MRIN:1278) Abigail COOK-2260 on 22 Dec 1742 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. Abigail was born on 21 Mar 1725 in Tiverton, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

Cook Sisson is buried in the Sisson Lot on Sea Meadow Drive in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. This is on the east side of East Main Road just opposite Quaker Hill, about 1 1/2 miles north of Mintwater Brook Farm, on land that seems to have passed from Richard (1) to his son George and to George's son James. Cook is buried in the Sisson Lot, Sea Meadow Drive, Portsmouth, RI, two miles off East Main Road.

126. Mary SISSON-2546 (James , George , Richard ) was born on 26 May 1724 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. She died on 13 May 1809 in Somerset, Massachusetts.

Mary is mentioned in her husband's will, written in 1786 and proved in 1787.

Mary married (MRIN:1326) Gilbert SISSON-2374, son of George SISSON Jr.-27 and Lydia COLE-29 (MRIN:29), on 22 Sep 1754. Gilbert was born 1 on 15 Aug 1730 in Swansea, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. He died before 1809 in Somerset, Bristol Co., Massachusetts.

Gilbert and Mary were married by Robert Lawton, Asst. During the Revolutionary War Gilbert was the master of the 16-ton schooner "Barton" with ten cannon and 25 men. He had orders from the governor to "prey upon British shipping on the high seas wheresoever you see fit." Gilbert's will was dated Feb 26, 1806 but was not proved until July 4, 1817, well after his death. It mentions his wife Mary, daughters Susanna Luther and Mary Luther, son Isaac and grandchildren Lydia and Gilbert Sisson, children of Isaac.

James married (MRIN:1276) Mary COOK-2253 on 29 Oct 1752. Mary was born on 20 Mar 1724 in Tiverton, Newport Co., Rhode Island. She died in May 1785.
