In January of 1995 I received a letter from Martha Alice Giles Clay, PO Box 44559, Shreveport, LA 71134. She identified herself as the granddaughter of John Taylor Giles and Catherine Wayland Giles. She said that Catherine lived with her daughter (Mrs. Clay's aunt) this Nanny Pearl Giles Conrad Hayward.
She said that Vicki Giles Maddox is her second cousin and John Giles of Kenosha is her nephew. She was 80 years old at the time of her writing me and had a daughter, Martha Clay who was a physician living in Georgetown, D.C., where her son was attending Georgetown University. Susan Clay's location was 1029 Papermill Ct., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007.

There is a Catharine Crigler found in the 1850 Ralls Co., MO census, p. 157, next to A.F. Wayland. This is not the same one as the Catherine Crider
listed in family records as mother of Evelyn Barrow, as she was born in 1815 and not 1809, as this woman was. Also, Catherine Crider was not a widow in 1850, as her husband died in 1884, and of course, she was not even a Crider in 1850, but a Barrow. The Catharine Crigler found in the census next to A.F. may have been his sister, and a widow. It is interesting that
Crigler is a Germanna name. The census shows her as age 41, born in Kentucky, with a 9 year old male born in MO by the name of Sylvester Crigler, who is probably her son.

Filed on a claim in 1901 what was then Day, now Ellis Co. Oklahoma. Lived in Idaho from 1909 on. Had no children of his own, but raised an adopted son. Owned a grocery store in Gainesville.
Mabel SQUIRES was born about 1875. She married George Abisha WAYLAND in 1904.
Milo KIMZEY was born about 1875. He married Mahala Francis WAYLAND on 25 Dec 1892.

I have a copy of his obituary in the "NORTHWEST OKLAHOMAN AND Ellis County News", dated Friday, June 26, 1964. He died in Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK.
