[NI563] "He was graduated in medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1844, served as surgeon in the Mexican War; afterwards had his own private sanitarium in [the] old stone house at [the] foot of Sideling Hill--part of which still stands. His widow, Sarah Reymer (?) married William Patterson, father of Hunter Patterson."

[NI564] From Mamam's Notebook: "George Scott spent his young manhood and active business life in Jacksonville, Ill. (my father was with him there many years). He made a great deal of money in merchandise and retired to live in McConnellsburg with his sister Maria Clingan Scott -- my grandmother. He never married. There is a family story of an early unhappy love affair. He was quiet, intensely reserved, loved by the few who knew him -- all the nieces and nephews in awe of him. He was very generous, the main support of his sister's large family -- always helping out in an emergency. 'Uncle George.' "

[XI564] Located several rows behind church.

[845] Living with sister Maria Scott Dickson.

[NI562] "He was supposed to have been very wealthy. The family was never able to get any particulars of his death."
