      This Indenture made and agreed upon this 25th day of March in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen Between Charles Duncan Senior of the commonwealth of Kentucky and County of Daviess of the one part and Samuel Duncan senior of the county of Nelson and Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Charles Duncan for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he bears for his son Samuel Duncan and also in consideration of five shillings to him in hand paid by the said Samuel the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath sold unto the said Samuel Duncan and by the Presents doth sell alien and convey unto him a certain tract of land lying in the county of Nelson and on the Beach fork which is bounded as follows to wit Beginning at the south East corner of John Wrens five hundred acres survey at two ashes and a sugar tree extending thence south fifteen degrees East two hundred and eighty three poles to two sugar trees and beach on the bank of the Beach fork thence binding on the river North seventy five degrees East fifty six Poles to a Beach North fifteen degrees West forty Poles North 75 degrees East one hundred and twenty poles North fifteen degrees West twenty poles North seventy five degrees East forty poles to two Beaches thence North fifteen degrees West leaving the River two hundred and twenty three poles to two Beaches and a poplar thence South seventy five degrees west two hundred and sixteen poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the same so with all and Singular the appertenances thereunto belonging to the said Samuel Duncan senr and his heirs forever and the said Charles Duncan senr hereby covenants and agrees to Warrant and forever defend all the land and premises contained in the foregoing bounds except a certain portion or parcel of said tract above described which he has prievous to this deeded to the said Samuel Duncan senior against the claim of him the said Charles and his heirs and all those claiming by thro or under them of either of them but not against the claim of others, In Testimony whereof the said Charles Duncan senior affixes his hand and seal the day and year above. /s/ Charles Duncan Ser Witness: William R.       A-375: 1 July 1821, John Cannady, coroner of Daviess Co., to Samuel Duncan Senr of same; on 9 Jan. 1821 an execution from Nelson Circuit Court in name of George Peak directed coroner of Daviess Co. to cause $240 to be made of the estate of Charles Y. Duncan plus interest from 20 Nov. 1819, being the sum collected by Charles Y. Duncan as sheriff of Daviess Co. on an execution from Nelson Circuit Court against John Bolds in favor of said George Peak; whereof the said Duncan was convict? as appears of record which execution was made returnable 24 Feb., delivered into hands of said John Cannady, then levied on estate of said Charles Y. Duncan on 23 Oct. 1816, on 20 May 1822 the Sheriff sold 30 acres in SE corner for $64.05; that on 10 March 1822 per another firi facias issued for failure to account for $22.16-2/3 in Nov. 1819 county levy, 10 acres sold for $33.46-1/2; ... an execution in the case of William Tibbs vs. Chas. Y. Duncan, for $130, 20 acres sold for $154.52; an execution from Nelson Co. court on behalf of Simon Hill against Charles Y.       B-67 (2nd): 15 Aug. 1820, Whereas we the heirs and representatives of Charles Duncan decd. do agree that Osborn a slave formerly the property of Charles Duncan decd. shall have a privilege of hiring himself and taking such other steps in an honest way, for two years, and in case he pays off $400 within that two years and produces a receipt from any one of the legatees for the amount such legatee may be entitled to, then a deduction shall be made out of that $400.
