| Funeral services for Elizabeth Ransom Ahearn were held on Tuesday, December 16, 1975, from
the Donald J. MacDonald and Son Funeral Home, 270 Main St., Watertown. Her Funeral Mass followed and
was celebrated in St. Patrick's Church by the Rev. Vincent P. Mellone, Associate Pastor. Assisting him were
Emma Roche, organist, and Claudette Brennan, soloist.
Mrs. Ahearn was born in Newton, a daughter of Frederick W. and Margaret Coen Ransom. She was raised
and educated in Watertown and lived here for her lifetiime. On Saturday morning, December 13, she died in
St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Brighton, after a brief illness.
She is survived by a son, Edward W. Ahearn of Watertown; and by four daughters: Gladys Lyman, Evelyn
Bloomer, Marie Chamberlain, all of Watertown; and Helen Arenburg of Waltham. Also included in her survivors
are 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Rennie of Newton. Her husband,
James Francis Ahearn, former Sealer of Weights and Measures in the town of Watertown,
died in 1959. Interment followed in the family lot in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown. Committal prayers
were offered by Fr. Mellone. |
