Often walking into a room and soon "owning the room", Eileen touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of kindness and dignity all the way to the end. We are so grateful to know that "Eisey is now free from cancer and reunited with her parents Albin and Dorthy and brother Sonny Johnson, enjoying a cocktail, game of cards and endless tropical Aruban sunsets.

Cdr Liam Ahern
All-Ireland hurler [sic] and one of first officers
appointed to Naval Service

Liam Ahern: born May 23rd, 1920; died March 9th, 2011
COMMANDER LIAM Ahern, who died last week in Cork, aged 90, was one of the first officers appointed to the Irish Naval Service following extensive wartime service in the Royal Navy. He had "salt in his veins", given that his father, Daniel had distinguished himself when serving as a young ship's steward on HMS Centurion, part of a naval supply convoy to the expeditionary force at Gallipoli in 1915 during the first World War. The costly Dardanelles initiative against Ottoman forces was a futile attempt to capture Constantinople and provide a relief supply line to the Russian forces fighting the German and Austro-Hungarian troops on the eastern front. Daniel Ahern was later recommended for a warrant officership, rising to the rank of lieutenant commander before his retirement in 1946. A keen sportsman, he was unusual in being a Royal Navy officer and holding an All-Ireland GAA hurling medal, having played on the Cork junior winning team in 1912.

Liam Ahern was born in Queenstown (as it then was) in 1920, the second child of Daniel and Agnes (née Kelleher) Ahern. He went to school in Cobh and in Portsmouth, where his father was posted in the 1930s, and later played rugby with Cobh Pirates and soccer with Cobh Ramblers. During most of the second World War he served on board the destroyer HMS Walker in the Atlantic and North Sea. Later he was involved in operations towing the innovative, prefabricated Mulberry Harbours to the Normandy beaches and providing the oil supply lines to reinforce the Allied D-Day invasion foothold in June 1944. At the outbreak of the war, the Irish government established the Marine and Coastwatching Service and acquired six motor torpedo boats from Britain. By the end of the war the marine service had been run down and, two years later, it was decided to establish an Irish Naval Service as part of the Defence Forces. He was one of two junior officers recruited from the Royal Navy and in 1947 most of the new cadet intake of 23 men were sent for training to the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. In the same year the new service bought three Flower-class corvettes from the British government which became the backbone of the Naval Service for the following two decades. Liam Ahern was one of only a handful of officers on the infant Naval Service who had naval combat experience as most of his fellow officers were recruited from the merchant marine. He was posted to the LE Mocha and LE Maeve, becoming a lieutenant commander in 1956 and a commander in 1968 before moving to the dockyard engineering service and ] retiring as senior marine engineering officer.

A genial, humurous man who liked things "shipshape and Bristol fashion", Crd Ahern rarely referred to his experiences and training in the Royal Navy when serving at the Haulbowline Naval headquarters. Following his retirement in September 1980 he worked with Irish Shipping for a further five years at the Verolme Cork Dockyard. He had also been closely involved in the design and commissioning of the Naval Service's helicoper patrol vessel LE Eithne, its largest vessel, built and launched in 1984.

When he retired he was presented with medals by the government of Malta for service on the battle cruiser HMS Ajax and by the Soviet Union in recognition of his services on the Arctic supply convoys to Murmansk and Archangel from 1941. On the evening before his 21st birthday, his ship had been attacked by German dive-bombers off the Norwegian coast and, knowing that his position in the mid-ship engine room was a likely target, Liam feared that he would never attain his majority. He was fortunate in that he survived nearly a dozen Russian convoy trips without being sunk or getting his feet wet once.

In recent years, following the death of his wife Sally (Sarah, née Whelan), he was cared for by his family and the staff at the Conna Nursing Home in north Cork as he coped with failing eyesight. Liam Ahern was predeceased also by his eldest son, Peter. He is survived by his daughters, Anne Marie (Bermingham) and Miriam, son Damian, and seven grandchildren.

Bishop Patrick V. Ahern, former episcopal vicar of Staten Island, is dead at 92
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Bishop Patrick V. Ahern, a former episcopal vicar of Staten Island, was hailed by fellow clergy and parishioners as a compassionate, humorous and community-minded innovator. Bishop Ahern died Saturday at the Mary Manning Walsh Home in Manhattan at the age of 92 — the 41st anniversary of his ordination.

A former episcopal vicar of Staten Island who also served as pastor of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in West Brighton, Bishop Ahern grew up in a seven-room walkup on 66th Street in Manhattan. He was first inspired to enter the priesthood at St. Agnes High School, when he saw a priest celebrate mass. "Seeing the priest offer mass lit in my heart the desire to be a priest myself," Bishop Ahern told the Advance in 1994. "Because the Eucharist, after all, is the principal work of a priest." After attending Manhattan College, Cathedral College and St. Joseph's Seminary, Bishop Ahern was ordained as a priest in 1945. He served as an associate pastor of St. Helena's Church in the Bronx and at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Bishop Ahern was also a member of the Apostolate Mission Band for eight years, taught at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, N.Y., for three years and served for nine years as secretary to the late Cardinal Francis Spellman. He also served as a private chamberlain to Pope John XXIII, and was described by fellow clergy as a friend and confidant of Cardinals Terence Cooke, John Joseph O'Connor, and Edward Egan. "He was so connected to the history of the diocese," said Joseph Zwilling, director of communication for the Archdiocese of New York. "When you look at the church of New York during the second part of the 20th century, Bishop Ahern was a very important character. In 1970, Bishop Ahern was named a bishop while pastor at Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church in the Bronx, and from that time, served as the cardinal's vicar in the Bronx. Bishop Ahern later became pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in 1980, as well as co-episcopal vicar of Staten Island serving alongside Monsignor Paul M. Andrews, pastor of St. Rita's R.C. Church, Meiers Corners.

On Staten Island, Bishop Ahern's sense of humor, commitment to the Catholic Church and serving those in need made an indelible mark. "I admired him a great deal because he was a very faithful man and a happy man," said Monsignor Peter G. Finn, a pastor who succeeded the bishop as pastor of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church and co-episcopal vicar of Staten Island who described Bishop Ahern as "the clergy equivalent of Governor Al Smith, the happy warrior." Added Monsignor Finn: "He was rarely without a smile on his face, and that smile emanated from his heart. It was genuine and real." In 1986, Bishop Ahern founded The Seton Foundation for Learning, based out of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Stapleton. The non-profit organization was Staten Island's first Catholic special education program. Bishop Patrick Ahern High School, an extension of the Seton school, opened in 2000 at Moore Catholic High School. "He was a very compassionate person, and he valued people with disability, which was extremely important to the parents," said Gail Checkett, a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament who worked with the bishop on establishing the Seton Foundation on behalf of her daughter, Lynn, who has down syndrome. "He treated them with the utmost respect, and their parents are eternally grateful for all that he did for our children." While on the Island, Bishop Ahern also founded Project Hospitality's Carpenter Shelter in Stapleton to help the Island's homeless. "Bishop Ahern's compassion for the homeless and hungry and his commitment to their care, gave birth to an interfaith network of churches who have followed in his footsteps and have opened wide their door to welcome in the homeless poor," said Project Hospitality executive director Reverend Terry Troia. "His faith in action for the poor set the bar for how religious leaders should and can embrace their brother and sister poor."

In addition, he was a member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, the Priest's Personnel Board and the Archbishop's Board of Consultors. "He was a fellow professor of mine in the seminary," said Monsignor James Dorney, co-episcopal vicar of Staten Island. "I'll always be grateful to him for his priesthood and his episcopacy." In 1990, Bishop Ahern left Staten Island and was appointed vicar for development for the Archdiocese. He retired from the position in 1994, at the age of 75. After half a century dedicated to the priesthood, he hoped to pursue his lifelong interest in the late 19th-century French nun, St. Therese of Lisieux, who died of tuberculosis at age 24. According to many close to the Bishop, St. Therese was an inspiration for much of the Bishop's religious life. "In 1939 when I entered the seminary, I read her autobiography, and it seemed to me to hold the answers to all my questions," he said upon retirement.

One of Bishop Ahern's first "missions" after his official retirement was to travel to Lisieux in France for a few months to improve his French language skills to help him translate works from French authors on St. Therese. He then began traveling and speaking on St. Therese, while also reworking a book he already has drafted about her. The book is not a biography, he said, but more an explanation of St. Therese's relationship with a young French seminarian named Maurice Belliere, with whom she exchanged 22 letters and developed a deep spiritual relationship.

Another longtime interest of Bishop Ahern was singing, and many described his abilities as extraordinary. Returning from a peace mission to Northern Ireland, he reportedly broke into song with Irish Tenor Frank Patterson. He also had the opportunity to sing for actor Bob Hope in Vietnam. The two were waiting with Cardinal Spellman for a delayed flight out of a Saigon airport one hot morning in 1966. Bishop Ahern, well-known among New Yorkers for his beautiful singing voice, wowed Hope with an off-the-cuff rendition of "Can I Forget You?" The comedian, who was visiting U.S. troops in Vietnam, described the bishop as having a "fine Irish" baritone. Friends said the bishop would be remembered for bringing humor and compassion to all situations of faith and otherwise. "He just had a very personal impact on everyone he met," said Monsignor Finn. "He was welcoming, generous, and open person."

A funeral mass is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan, to be celebrated by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan. Other funeral arrangements are pending.

Patrick John Ahearn, Jr.
On Feb. 27, 2011, a final sun had set for Patrick John Ahearn Jr. Born in New York, N.Y., on March 28, 1946, he was to be the oldest child born to Patrick John Sr. and Margaret Ahearn. His sister, Mary, whose life was taken by SLE-leukemia in her early 30s, was born a few years later. Though born in New York, Pat's journey as a youth started in Bergen County, N.J. It was there, even as a young child, that he would start to forge the friendships that would last a lifetime. That trend of falling into long lasting friendships continued throughout his Catholic school upbringing (attending St. Luke's Grammar-High Schools), his college life at Xavier University, and for that matter anywhere he went afterwards. Patrick was a man that sang, danced, played, laughed and charmed his way into the hearts of all he met.

With each interaction, he was always so happy that someone would choose to share a part of their life with him, not recognizing his impact on them at all. He was a fighter and a poet, and he took passion (he called it "Irish!") to its apex and beyond. After graduating from Xavier University with a degree in accounting and some jobs along the way, Patrick eventually ended up working for Reefer Express Lines, residing in Jefferson Township, N.J., as a married man (wife, Merle) with one son, Sean, but he later got divorced in the early 1990s (still has a son, Sean, though). Patrick and Sean lived together in New Jersey, where he raised Sean for his teenage years. Pat did an unprecedented job as a father, best friend, mentor, inspiration, and hero up until and even after his passing.

In the early 2000s, Patrick moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., when his ailing mother took a turn for the worse. Upon her passing, he took care of and provided companionship to his father who passed soon after. Following a brief stint in Sanford, Fla., Patrick returned to Punta Gorda to live out the remainder of his life as he battled stage-4 cancer. Being with him in his final moments showed me that he was a man truly loved by those who knew him, and a man who truly loved the world he built around him. He leaves behind a son, Sean; family (nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, second cousins, etc.), and so many close friends and loved ones. He will be deeply missed. As darkness sounds from where his final sun has set; receive the moon, a worthy waltz, a dance of light to recollect.

Joseph Patrick Ahern
February 7, 1917 — July 24, 2011
Formerly of Walden, NY
Joseph Patrick Ahern was the oldest of five children born to Anna and Patrick Ahern. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 7, 1917. He graduated from St. Joseph High School where he was class valedictorian and captain of the baseball team. In 1937, after two years at St. Anselm College, he received an appointment to West Point. At the Academy, he never let studies interfere with his love of baseball. He was the varsity catcher for three years, winning three Major As and two Navy stars. In 1939, he played in the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown in the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the game of baseball by the then West Point Cadet Abner Doubleday. After graduation from West Point in 1941, he spent a year at Harvard and MIT in the electronics laboratories.

In June 1942, Joe married Mary Elizabeth Dooner of New York. Following the wedding in Rhinebeck, New York, the couple was feted at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park on the banks of the Hudson River. Ultimately, they had eight children — all born during Joe's Army career. In the years to come, nineteen grandchildren and great grandchildren would be added to the roster.

During World War II, Joe was the Division Signal Officer of the 17th and 82nd Airborne Divisions. In the airborne crossing of the Rhine in Germany, he earned a battlefield promotion to lieutenant colonel. He also met an Army nurse, Lt. Pearl Fadoir, of the 135th Army Evac Hospital who was caring for some of his soldiers. After a post-war assignment in Germany, Joe graduated from Harvard Business School and was assigned to the Army general staff. At that time the Hoover Commission had issued a report critical of the management of the Army logistical facilities. In response, the Deputy Chief of Staff established a Task Force made up of consultants from Business Schools, the seven major accounting firms in the United States and the seven Technical Services of the Army. The mission of the task force was to develop and install a Command and Control system for the management of the Army Depot complex. Joe was appointed chairman of this unwieldy task force. After two years, he succeeded in developing and installing the Army Depot Command Management System throughout the Army. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for this accomplishment.

After graduating from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1958, Joe had another three year tour in Europe followed by assignment to the Office of the Secretary of the Army. In 1962, facing the prospect of financing college education for eight children and with Mary in failing health, he applied for retirement to begin a career in the private sector. He became President of Spence Engineering Company in Walden, NY during the following, twenty-five years he rebuilt and modernized this old company and restored it to its industry leading preeminence. In Walden he was active in many government, business, and charitable programs. As a member of the Orange County Park Commission, protected land was extended and an 18th century farm was purchased and brought back as a living museum. Joe spearheaded the establishment of the local ambulance corps and the town's first daycare center. When he retired in 1987, he received a number of citations and awards, including Orange County proclaiming December 1st, Joe Ahern Day. Retiring a second time, Mary and Joe settled in Florida. The prospects of a carefree retirement were marred by Mary's deteriorating health. After 54 years of a happy and adventurous marriage, Mary died in 1996.

Several years later, remembering the Nurse who cared for his soldiers during the airborne crossing of the Rhine in 1945. Joe searched and finally found Pearl living in Texas, having retired from the Air Force as a Colonel in the Nurse Corps. Pearl and Joe were married in 2003. Living in San Antonio, they enjoyed life sharing a combined family of many children and grandchildren too numerous to count.

Joe passed away at Brooks Army Medical Center on July 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Fadoir Miller Gilliland; his children: Richard, Mary Jo, Michael, Kathleen, Joseph Jr., Caryl, Rosemary, Therese, and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held in the chapel at Villa San Antonio, 8103 North Hollow, San Antonio, TX at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27th. Another Mass will be held at St. Mathew's Parish in San Antonio at a date to be determined. Funeral will take place in the Catholic Chapel at West Point Military Academy followed by burial in the West Point Cemetery, also at a date to be determined. Mission Park Funeral Home North will have further information as it becomes available. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be given to The Conservation Fund at 1655 North Fort Myer Drive, Suite 1300, Arlington, VA 22209. (www.conservationfund.org) or to the Manchester Vet Center at 103 Liberty Street, Manchester, NH 03104. You may sign the on-line guestbook at www.missionparks.com under the obituary section.

Michael John O'Hearn
SANTA CRUZ—Michael John O'Hearn, a longtime Santa Cruz resident who built his life around making homes, office buildings and gardens look like they belong in a magazine, died Aug. 2 from throat cancer. He was 71. As an architect, O'Hearn left his mark on the tree-lined side streets of downtown Santa Cruz with the numerous Victorian homes he helped restore after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, including the charming Lincoln Court cottages. He also shepherded the elegant renovation of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church on Center Street. "His whole purpose for living was to make the world more beautiful than it was," said his wife, Gretchen O'Hearn. "He loved to contribute ideas to any setting he could make more beautiful."

O'Hearn was born in San Francisco and earned a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley. After designing homes in Marin County and working in Europe for a few years, O'Hearn returned to California and helped found an architectural firm in Santa Clara called Habitec. During his work with Habitec, O'Hearn was involved in the design and building of hundreds of office buildings across the state. A lot of his work centered on the burgeoning Silicon Valley, including the distinctive Decathlon Club in Santa Clara. He sold the firm, with about 40 employees, to his partners in the early 1980s and moved to Santa Cruz, where he continued to work as an architect. O'Hearn had a hand in the transforming Sunshine Villa on Beach Hill from a damaged old hotel into a historic landmark and home for seniors. He was the main architect and developer behind a 15-unit upscale townhome complex that brought a Mediterranean feel to Second Street in Santa Cruz.

While the design and development of homes and buildings drove much of his work, O'Hearn was equally passionate about landscapes. He believed landscaping was "the outside room and space," according to a Sentinel story in 1997 about his role in downtown preservation. He had an eye for planting flowers and trees that perfectly accent a home or business. Pasatiempo resident Robert Cooney hired O'Hearn last year for advice on how to update his house and yard. Cooney, a writer, said he was impressed with the curved decks and new foliage the architect suggested. Cooney said O'Hearn was an easygoing guy with little ego. "I was just impressed with how instinctively he knew what to do," Cooney said. "Mike was a true local treasure."

Cootehill mother of three dies after music festival
[photo]
The late Siobhan Kinnefick Ahearne.
A double tragedy hit County Cavan over the weekend when a young Cootehill woman died after attending the Planet Love music festival at Shane's Castle in County Antrim. Mother of three young children Siobhan Kinnefick Ahearne (23) from 42 Lodge View, Cootehill was pronounced dead at the Antrim Area Hospital on Saturday night. It is understood that Ms Kinnefick Ahearne took ill on the way home. It is believed that she left the festival at around 9pm after her boyfriend's security shift had ended at the event and was travelling home with him. Her boyfriend Noel was working as a security guard at the event.

The town of Cootehill and environs was in shock when news of the tragedy filtered through early on Sunday morning. The funeral mass for the young mother took place in St Michael's Church yesterday (Tuesday) at 1pm and she was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Local Parish Priest Fr Owen Collins told The Anglo-Celt that the whole community is shocked. "There is a great sense of loss and sadness at such a tragic passing at a very young age." He described Siobhan as a "lovely young woman" and the tragedy is compounded by the fact that she leaves behind three small children. She leaves behind a four-year-old twins (boy and girl) and a six-year-old daughter and the twins had just started school in junior infants class in St Michael's National School.

Post mortem
A post mortem examination was carried out at the hospital. Planet Love Promoter Eddie Wray extended his deepest sympathy to her family and to her boyfriend. He said that Ms Kinnefick Ahearne did not take ill and did not receive any medical treatment, while at the festival. The festival was in its 13th year and ran from 2pm until 1am. About 10,000 people attended the event.

Mary Ellen (Ahern) Jette
Mary Ellen Jette, née Ahern, died Monday, November 20, 2011. Born September 29, 1929 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, her parents, Ed and Loretta (Moore) Ahern, were Minnesota natives of 100% Irish stock. A 1947 graduate of Albert Lea High School, she majored in English, Speech and Education at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, an experience she treasured for the rest of her interesting life. While teaching English and Speech at Tracy High School, she fell in love with a Tracy native, Beryl Jette. Their marriage produced four children, and Beryl's career with Eli Lilly & Company took the family from Estherville, Iowa to Dubuque and Indianapolis, and then overseas (Karachi and Johannesburg) for five years. Minnesota lured them home in 1972, and they settled in New Hope, moving eventually to Edina.

From 1999, she lived at St. Therese Southwest in Hopkins, where her sunny disposition made her a beloved figure among residents and staff. Having lost her beloved Beryl to Alzheimer's in 1993, she ultimately developed the terrible disease herself, and spent the last several years in the memory care wing there.

Mary Ellen's faith was her lifelong joy, and in addition to attending daily Mass at St. Raphael (Crystal) and Our Lady of Grace (Edina), she was a treasured member of the League of Catholic Women and the Women Becoming program. She loved the English language and was a great reader, especially of murder mysteries, and regularly consulted the big dictionary next to her reading chair. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts and artistic activities, and her projects ranged from oil paintings of Pakistani scenes through sewing drapes and pillow covers, to programs and award certificates featuring her beautiful calligraphy. She was a snappy dresser and maintained a svelte figure despite daily rations of potato chips, had a great head of hair which was always elegantly coiffed, and never went out without eyeliner and mascara.

She always said that she loved being a mother, and besides providing a wonderful home environment and hundreds of thousands of meals to her brood, she passed along her very Irish sense of humor, the first lines of countless old songs, and an unsinkable optimism. She loved life, and personified the Golden Rule with a generous and natural empathy for her fellow man, rooted in her beloved Catholic faith. She is survived by her four children, all Twin Cities residents: Maria (Lee Blaske), Dan (Ann Pfeffer), Annette Cummings (Tom) and Shawn; and three grandchildren: Logan, Declan and Audrey Cummings.

The kindness and love Mary Ellen was given by the wonderful people at St. Therese Southwest is a gift that her family will never forget; and her difficult last months were brightened by the tender care and compassion of Hospice of the Twin Cities and the staff at Wealshire of Bloomington. She maintained her sense of fun and loving manner to the end, and despite Alzheimer's encroachment on her memory, she regaled everyone she met with jokes, rhymes and maxims. Her favorite was probably this one: "If you get to Heaven before I do, just drill a hole and pull me through!"

Visitation and reminiscences: 3-6 p.m., Sunday Nov. 27, Washburn-McReavy Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins, 952- 938-9020. Mass of Christian Burial: 11a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the campus of St. Catherine University, 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul, with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of the Twin Cities.

UNA CAHILL, Glenwood, Dundalk who died peacefully in the loving care of the staff of St. Oliver Plunkett Hospital on December 10th was a native of Dunmore East in Waterford but had lived in Dundalk for many years. Aged 96, Una was the only daughter of Paddy and Joanne Ahern and sadly she was just eight when her mother died. Consequently Una was brought up by her uncle in Roscommon. After her marriage to Peter (Bill) Cahill who was a manager with Saxone Shoes the couple lived for a time in Tipperary and Dublin before Bill moved to Dundalk to manage the company's outlet in Clanbrassil Street. The shop was next door to Woolworths and was one of the most popular shoe outlets in the town at the time. Una and Bill lived for a time in Avenue Road and later Chapel Street before retiring to live in Glenwood. Affectionately known as 'super granny' by her family mainly because she did the driving in her beloved mini until she reached an advanced age, Una was a much admired lady in her neighbourhood. She loved to play Bridge and was an accomplished player. Una was renowned for her kindness, always willing to open her home to the handicapped and orphans for holidays and she was a regular visitor to the sick in the Louth and St. Oliver's hospitals. Deeply religious with great devotion to the Rosary, Una was also an active member of the Legion of Mary for many years. She had been a patient in St. Oliver's for the past seven years and her family deeply appreciate the loving care that she received from staff.

Thankfully Una's daughters, Ann and Carmel arrived home in time for their mother's death and while she had a long and happy life they will greatly miss her loving presence in their lives. For Una family was her life and her family are consoled by their many happy memories of their time together.

Una is survived by her son, Jackie (America), daughters, Kathleen Buggy ( Ballyduff Upper, Co. Waterford), Ann Hill (Canberra, Australia) and Carmel Phillips (Miami, USA), 19 grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons- in- law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill in 1987, son, Aidan who resided in Canada and daughter, June who lived in Clifden, Connemara. Having reposed at her home, Una's remains were taken to the church in town that she most loved, St. Joseph's Redemptorist Church where Requiem Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. P. Rushe, Adm., Redeemer. The Readings were given by grandsons, Douglas Buggy and Ronan Hughes and the Prayers of Intercession were led by grandsons, Dermot Hughes and Robert Buggy. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Una's daughters, Kathleen, Ann and Carmel and the Communion reflection was given by grandson, Aidan Hughes while another grandson, Brian Hughes spoke lovingly of his grandmother's life. The beautiful music was provided by soloist, Deirdre Morgan, and the organist was Anne King. After Mass burial took place in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
