Abington Stice of near Bible Grove died of what is supposed to be Cancer Tuesday
of this week.  He was an old citizen of the county and will be missed and
mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends.  The funeral occurred
yesterday, interment being made at the Bible Grove Cemetery.  Published in the
same newspaper July 19, 1900: Jeff and Tom Stice of LaBelle attended the funeral
of their father Avington Stice Wednesday.

Mrs. Jesse Stice  Memphis mo Democrat News Paper   Funeral Services for Mrs. Jesse Stice 81, who died at her home 430 South Knoll St. Monday May 16, at 7 p.m. after a week's illness, were held at Gerth and Baskett Funeral Parlor yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W.M. Feay, pastor of the Memphis Christian Church. Interment was in Memphis Cemetery.   Mrs. Stice's maiden name was Mary Catherine Truitt. She was born in Tennessee on Oct. 4, 1856. She came to Missouri with her parents when she was six years old and has lived in Scotland county for forty-two years.   When 20 years of age, she was married at Arbela, Mo. to William Russell, who died several years ago. She was later married to Jesse Stice of Memphis. She is survived by two children John D. Russell of Memphis and Mrs. Bessie M. Anderson and several grandchildren.

Their twin daughters Clara and Laura were on the ferry directly behind them and witnessed the drownings."
Story #2: "Francis was a member of an Irish gang and was in the meatpackig business in Springfiled, Illinois and doing business with an Irish gang in Chicago. Something went wrong and Francis, his wife and their son were murdered and their house set afire to cover up the murders. The two daughters were visiting relatives and were spared. I have always assumed this happened in Springfield but could have been in Chicago in or about 1887."
