1. MANCHESTER CEMETERY
Scott County, Illinois
This is NOT the complete listing of Manchester Cemetery. This listing
includes the newest part of the cemetery, used for current burials, which is
located across the road from "Old Manchester Cemetery". You can find the
oldest burials in the cemetery index titled "Old Manchester Cemetery". There
appear to be additional burials in this cemetery. There are numerous empty
spaces, some marked with flowers, between stones which would indicate other
burials which have probably never been marked.
Directions: Manchester lies approximately 16 miles southwest of Jacksonville
in Morgan County, Illinois. Driving south out of Jacksonville on Rtes.
67/267, go approximately 9 miles to the intersection where Rte. 67 angles
off to the southwest and Rte 267 continues on straight south. The
intersection is marked with a sign pointing to Murrayville. Drive through
Murrayville (2 miles from the turnoff) and continue for 5 more miles to
Manchester. After driving under the railroad bridge at the edge of
Manchester, you can turn left at the first street which is East Street and
go 2 blocks to 6th Street or, continue around the curve in the highway and
turn left on 6th street which is the first street after rounding the curve.
After turning left on 6th street, drive 2 blocks (the 2nd one is a long one)
and you will see Old Manchester Cemetery ahead of you on a curve and on your
left. After going around the curve, turn right into the driveway and
continue up the small hill into Manchester Cemetery.
