Most of the original information about the Logan's came from research done by Edith Logan Yates. I received copies of the Family Data Sheets in the early 1980's and held on to them for many years before starting my own research. Her original research was from bible records, marriage, birth, and death certificates, as well as census records. She was the author of the original family story connecting the Arkansas Logan's to Coosa County, Alabama.

About a year ago (1996) I brought up my first webpage and started genealogy research via the web. I used USGenWeb sites a lot and left queries everywhere. These were exception fruitful in my Logan research. I volunteered to coordinate the Cleburne County, Arkansas USGenWeb site and later the Coosa County, Alabama site. Since then my knowledge of the Logans has grown rapidly.

01/28/97 - Received e-mail from Betty Hickman in response to my Coosa County query providing information about Alexander Logan. She is researching this line.

01/28/97 - Received e-mail from Jim and Beverly Loffler providing information about George J. B. and other various Logans from Coosa County.

02/01/97 - Received e-mail from Dewey Bruce Glenn with information on a lot of Logan's. Evidently Dewey does a lot of genealogy research in the Coosa County area and maintains a large database of ancestors from those areas. His assistance has been very valuable. He has provided a GEDCOM file to add to the Logan information.

02/03/97 - Received e-mail response from Otis Murphy. He supplied information about Henry Logan and added some information about James E. M. Logan. His aunt was married to two Logan men, descendants of Henry. He has recently supplied a GEDCOM file on George B. Logan and descendants. He also put me in touch with Cathy Fields.

03/28/97 - Cathy Fields is a descendant of James E. M. Logan and provided additional information on this line. She provided the information about Blount County, TN being the possible origin of the Logan's and a possibility of David and Hannah Logan being the parents, or at least somehow related. Also information about Samuel and Henry's participation in the War of 1812.

03/30/97 - Response from Nell Oswalt Naugher, she is a descendant of Ben Logan. She provided a GEDCOM file to add to the Logan file as well as some family history and stories.

04/10/97 - Jim and Beverly Loffler put me in contact with Joann Robison Cernosek who had written a book about the Tekell family from Coosa, in contacting Joann, she discovered a Tekell and Logan link.

May 1997 - Visit to Arkansas provided some information about aunts, uncles, and cousins, also some old photographs of the Arkansas Logans

05/17/97 - Heard from Eddie and Joan Whiteacres, descendants of Alexander Logan.

05/19/97 - Received e-mail from Sue Boyer, she is a descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte Logan. He came to Arkansas with his mother and brothers in about 1870 from Coosa County. She is doing research to present as a present to her mother. Provided a GEDCOM file with information about her line.

06/01/97 - Through using an on-line query service provided by Ancestry (commercial) I was able to determine that John Logan had served in Company C, 59th Alabama Infantry. Will now work on getting his service record.

06/17/97 - Received e-mail from Katrina Frazier, a descendant of Ellis Logan, Coosa County.
