Generation No. 1

1. FREDERICK¹ GREEN was born Abt. 1787 in Virginia, and died Aft. 1860. He married CATHERINE (Caty)WAINSCOTT. She died Bet. 1838 - 1850 in Jefferson or Switzerland Co., IN.

Notes for FREDERICK GREEN:
A thread of deed and census records indicate that this Frederick Green [Sr.) is the same Frederick Green that married Caty Wainscott in Henry Co KY in 1808. This seems to be the consensus amongst Switzerland and Jefferson Co Green researchers. Frederck's wife's name IS recorded as Catherine on an 1838 deed reconrd.
In the 1800 Henry Co KY Tax List there are an Isaac, Richard and Stephen Green. The descendants of Stephen Green think that our Frederick is probably/might be Stephens brother and that they are grandsons of a Henry Green from Ludenburg Co., VA. I have no idea. In 1808 we have our first record when he marries Caty. THen in the 1810 census we have Frederick living wiht his wife and young son in Henry Co, KY . In the 1810 Census our Frederick appears, along with two Benjamin Greens. Considerable research has been done on the Benjamin living closest to our Frederick and it is believed by his descendants that he could not be Fredericks father. In 1820 Frederick appears in Switzerland Co, IN (Stephen had moved there a few yers earlier) and he remains through the 1830 and 1840 Census's. In the 1850 Census (this) Frederick Sr. is living with his son Benjamin, with son Hezekiah next door and son Frederick Jr. in the residence after that. In 1860 Benjamin has disappeared (maybe to Effingham Co,IL?) and Frederick Sr and Hezekiah are both living with/next door to Frederick Jr. According to Bob Scott, Hezekiah dies in 1863. And before 1870 Frederick Jr has moved to Effingham/Jasper Co., IL.

There is much more work to be done, but we have made a begining.
