He was married to MARY JANE BORDERS ( don't know that date) b. Dec. 01, 1834, d. Feb. 01, 1923. He was from Virginia, and she from Georgia. They had 10 children that lived to be grown, 2 died young. They moved to Coleman County, Texas with there family in 1876. They setteled on their land about 14 miles northwest of Coleman which later became Glen Cove. Martha Almeda Elkin born June 13, 1870 Nancy Elkin born ? infant Elkins born and died Feb. 11, 1881 Thomas Elkin born Feb. 26, 1880 Mary Jane Borders Elkin had 2 brothers, Frank and Tink, and 1 sister, Tack who never married who all lived in Coleman County.

Steve Elkins [email protected]	I am researching the family of JOSHUA ELKINS, SR. of Muhlenberg Co., KY. It is believed that JOSHUA was born in 1762 in Winton, Hertford Co., NC. According to the statement he gave to a court, in 1832, regarding his Revolutionary War pension eligibility he was living in South Carolina when he first entered the service for the Revolutionary war. He may have immigrated to Christian/Muhlenberg Co. KY as early as 1797 where he settled on 200 acres of land, near the Pond River, in an area of Christian Co. that later was incorporated into Muhlenberg Co. (he is listed in the Christian Co. Tax Rolls for 1799 & 1800). JOSHUA died sometime between 1840 & 1850 (presumably in Muhlenberg Co., KY). The location of his grave is a mystery (Headstone probably deteriorated or was damaged). I have no idea what the names of JOSHUA, SR.'s spouse(s) or parents were. Also, I have no idea where JOSHUA's parents may have come from. It has been suggested by other researchers that Joshua may have been the brother of a JOHN WHITNEY ELKINS who settled in Johnson Co., Illinois. J.W. Elkins, it is written, (I believe in the book 'A Century in Egypt', which, admittedly, I have not yet read) claimed that he was Welsh and immigrated to America with his family as a young child. However, there is no documented evidence supporting anything in this paragraph (at least none that I know of), but I'm not discounting it. I'm kinda stuck on JOSHUA, SR. right now and if anyone has any information that might get me going again I'd appreciate hearing from you. Also, I do know that someone in 1939 by the name of Alberta Patterson of New York City was researching Joshua Elkins, Sr. as well. Does that name happen to sound familiar to anyone? Was she a cousin? Did she break the Joshua Elkins, Sr. barrier?
