WILL of JOHN ELKINS

In the name of God Amen. I John Elkins of the County of Clark and Territory of Arkansas being of lawful age and sound mind and disposing memory and knowing the certainty of death and uncertainty of life and desiring to dispose of my worldly effects with which it has pleased God to bless me do make and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all wills by me heretofore made. And first I commend my soul to God who gave it and consign my (sic) to the earth. And secondly I desire that Joshua Elkins, William Elkins, Richard Elkins, Whitney Elkins, Polly (Mary) Lysenby, Amy Smith and Betsy Elizabeth Watson have each and every one of then as heirs at law of my Estate at my decease the sum of twenty five cents of the money or property of my said Estate. And thirdly I desire that City Elkins my wife and Raphael Elkins and David Elkins my two infant children and heirs at law of my said Estate have and receive as their own right and absolute property all and every of the property that shall be and remain of my said Estate after the payment of twenty five cents and as aforsaid to each and every one of the aforesaid Joshua Elkins, William Elkins, Richard Elkins, Whitney Elkins, Polly Lysenby, Amy Smith and Betsy Watson towich that my said wife City Elkins and my two infant children and minor heirs of my said Estate have as their own absolute property and every of my improvements on which I now live and all the appurtenances there unto belonging and all and every of my horse beasts cattle and hogs of any and every description as well also as all and every of species or description of farming utensils household or kitchen furniture and all other property goods chattels money credits or effects of any kind or nature in whose hands or possessions soever the same is or may be found reserving only so much thereof as shall be sufficient to pay all and every of my debts that shall and may remain due and unpaid by me to any and every person or persons whatsoever. And fourthly and lastly I do hereby appoint Joshua Elkins Executor of this my last will and testament and desire that he will see each and every provision of the same duly and faithfully carried into Execution and effect according to the true intent and meaning thereof In Testimony where of I have hereto set my hand and seal this the 4th day of November A D 1834.
