    Hugh McKay To Harmon Gable

    State of South Carolina
    Pendleton District

    This indenture made this second day of March one thousand eight hundred and twenty five and in the forty seventh year of American Independence between Hugh McKay of the State and district aforesaid part of the one part and Harmon Gable Junior of the State and district of the other part.

    Witnesseth that the said Hugh McKay for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Harmon Gable at or before the sale and delivering of those presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained, sold, released, conveyed and confine and by those presents do grant, bargain, sale, release, convey and confine unto the said Harmon Gable a certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying and being in Pendleton District on the waters of Wilson Creek joining lands of John Scott, Thomas Scott, John Gable, George Clark, by estimation one hundred acres Together with all and singular the rights, members, profits and appurtenances thereunto belonging and every part thereof unto unto the said Harmon Gable, his heirs, administrators, executors and assign forever and the said Hugh McKay does bind himself, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the said land and premises and every part thereof unto the said Harmon Gable, his heirs and assigns against the said Hugh McKay, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns all and every other person or persons whatsoever state and will warrant and defend by these presents.

    In witness whereof the said Hugh McKay has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

    Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of us, Test., John Gable, Jacob Casper, Henry Casper.

    Personally appeared before me John Gable and made oath in my presence sayeth that he was present when the within deed was legally executed and that Jacob Casper and Henry Casper was subscribing witnesses with himself.

    I, James Thompson, one of the Justices of the Quorum, do certify unto all whom it may concern that this day appeared before me Martha McKay, the wife of Hugh McKay, and being privately and separately examined by me that she does voluntarily and freely without compulsion, dread or fear of any person or person whomsoever renounce and release all her interest to the within released also her right and claim of Dower of in or to all and singular conveyance.
