Blount Co. TN County Court Minutes:
11-78: June 1867, Jas. B. Duncan vs. heirs of B.F. Duncan decd; petition to sell land; answer by W.A. Walker, guardian of three heirs of George R. Duncan decd, William, John B. and Harriet Duncan, all minors under age 14; court finds it necessary to sell land to pay debts; court to act for non-resident respondants James Duncan son and heir of Frank Duncan decd. who was heir at law of Benjm. F. Duncan; and as James is under 14 years of age, court asks evidence of value of personal estate and its disposition, etc. (FHL film 888,871)
12-120: January 1874, W.H. Duncan, J.B. Duncan and H.A. Duncan, minor children of G.R. Duncan decd; application to remove estate of said minors to Texas; minors have moved to Tarrant Co. TX with their mother; that Mrs. M.A. Duncan their mother was appointed guardian; bond filed in Tarrant Co. TX 20 Nov. 1873, filed in TN, security W.R. Hensley and W.C. Hollands; court now appoints W.A. Walker their guardian in TN. (FHL film 888,872)

Pg.426: J. BAXTER McLEAN, M.D., one of the leading physicians of Fort Worth, Texas, was born near Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, December 22, 1852, and is the son of Charles and Mary (Duncan) McLean. The father was born in Kentucky, in 1804, and at about the age of fourteen or fifteen emigrated to Tennessee, where he was engaged in farming. He was very prominent in the county of Lawrence, and for 42 years continuously, except during the civil war, was an office-holder, ... and one term in the Tennessee Legislature. His death occurred in Tennessee, in 1884. Mary Duncan, mother of our subject, was born in Tennessee, in 1809. She is still living, residing on the old homestead near Lawrenceburg, where she has lived for nearly seventy years. There were thirteen children born to the parents, eight of whom are still living. Dr. McLean was reared in Lawrence Co. TN ... he was married in 1887 to Miss Hattie McLean, of Marshall county, Tennessee, daughter of Harvey McLean, deceased. The issue of Dr. McLean and wife is one son, Charles Harry, aged four years. ... In 1879 to Tarrant Co. TX, in 1885 to Fort Worth, Texas.

R.J. Duncan, 31 May 1888, of Tarrant Co. TX, bought lots in the town of Amarillo, recorded in Potter Co. Vol.1 pg.76, contains a sketch of JAMES WESLEY DUNCAN, b. 12/18/1868 in Tazewell, Claiborne Co. TN, son of William Marshall Duncan and Sarah Simmons, married Martha Jane Lewis 10/27/1887 in Harlan Co. KY; in 1892 to Arlington [Tarrant Co.], TX, later to Gastonia, in Kaufman Co. The sketch gives more on his family.
