John Angell

Less is known about this John than about his father or grandfather. John was born ca 1677 (adult before his father deeds him land in 1705) in Providence, Rhode Island. Before 1720, he married Sarah Clemence, daughter of Richard Clemence and Sarah Smith. Sarah was born in Providence on November 11, 1687 or 1688, and died in Johnston, RI after October 11, 1725 when she was named in her mother's will.

John was a farmer and he settled on a farm in Johnston, near the seven mile line, which separates that town from Smithfield. He was voted freeman at Newport, October 26, 1670. He died intestate at Johnston in 1744. His son Stephen was administrator on his estate and afterwards owned and occupied the farm of his father.
