born about 1749 in Augusta County, Virginia. He died in 1830 in Pulaski County,
Kentucky. 13. Gaspar VAUGHT was born about 1749 in Augusta Co., VA. He died
after 1830 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Assume following is same Casper/Gaspar:

CASPER WOCHT (VAUGHT) appears in 1781 in a militia company along with John, Christley,
David and George Vaught. Casper did not remain in this area and the exact relationship
of all the Vaughts has not been established, although they were probably closely
related. They are believed to have resided in Augusta County, Virginia prior
to moving to what is now Wythe County. CASPER had land at the head of Reed Creek,
apparently obtained from Andrew Vaught who paid interest on the property beginning
in 1762. The Vaughts probably did not settle on the land until about 1772.
CHRISTINA SCHNEIDER (SNIDER) (Kegley, Militia, p.19: Kegley, E.A., 11, p 119:
Vaught, p.1)
He was married to Elizabeth Butcher between 1769 and 1773 in VA?.25 Elizabeth
BUTCHER25 died in 1821/22 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
A Gaspar Vaught was married and working for the government as an artist to the
Cherokees in TN in 1797. His existence is a contribution of Kay Gunn of Dallas
Tx. He was at the Tellico Blockhouse in 1794. He is in Blount Co., TN records
in 1787 as a "chainman". He would be too old to be a son or either
David or Andrew who married ca 1775/78. He may have traveled from Montgomery
Co., VA with Andrew Vaught, Jr. in 1787. He might have been born circa 1772,
married circa 1791. It is not known for sure when Gaspar (Sr.?), brother of
David and Andrew Vaught married, but it is concievable that he married circa
1768/71 in Augusta Co., VA. However, Gaspar (Sr.?)'s last child was b in 1800.
If he had Gaspar (Jr.?) in 1772, then Gaspar (Sr?) had children for a span for
28 years. This is possible. This Gaspar (Jr.?) is at Lookout Mountain (near
Chattanooga) in 1802. His children would be marrying somewhere other than Blount
Co., TN and therefore would not be in any of the early Blount Co. marriage applications
listed above. It is said in Chattanooga today that Gaspar returned to Blount
Co. TN but the date that he do so was not reported to this compiler (Helen Spurlin,
now deceased).

1 by Helen Spurlin and Mickey Martin. Contributed by The Vaught Association.
Gaspar Vaught appears to be a s/o Andrew Vaught. The Wy.Co., VA Gaspar was b
1740-1750. He is also in records as Jasper or Casper. The 1830 Pu.Co., KY c
gives his age as 80-90. His wife was Elizabeth. He lived on the headwaters
of Cripple Creek in Wy.Co., VA. He was the first Vaught to move to Pu. Co.,
KY. He sold the Cripple Creek property aroundf 1806 and bought land on both
sides of Pitman Creek, Pu.Co., KY. in 1809, from Robertson Burge for $1100.00.
Gaspar's wife Elizabeth, d before 1830 in KY. Gaspar d about 1832 in KY.
His known ch are John Vaught, Sarah Vaught, Christine Vaught, Mary Vaught and
twins Christian Vaught and Elizabeth Vaught. Are the names of the twins an indication
that the Wy.Co., Gaspar and Christley are brothers? The Wy. Co. Gaspar might
name twins after a brother and his wife more readily than after a cousin and
his wife.
Notes from the book "There Was A Gaspar In The Family" Vol 2 by Helen
Spurlin and Mickey Martin. Contributed by The Vaught Association.
Gaspar Vaught was probably a s/o Andrew Vaught and his wife Elizabeth. He was
b ca 1749 in Augusta Co., VA. Since Gaspar's first child may have been born
ca 1775, Gaspar Vaught and Elizabeth Butcher were probably married ca 1774 in
Fincastle Co., VA. Gaspar died in Pu.Co., KY in 1830. Elizabeth was b ca 1750-55
(in Germany?) and died in Pu.Co., KY ca 1821-22.
Ten children of Gaspar and Elizabeth (Butcher) Vaught could have been Catherine
Vaught, Barbara Vaught, George Vaught, Christy Vaught, Elizabeth Vaught, Nathan
Vaught, John Vaught, Christine Vaught, Mary Vaught and Sarah Vaught.
He was
married to Elizabeth BUTCHER about 1774 in Johnstown, Bates County, Missouri.
Elizabeth BUTCHER was born between 1750 and 1755 in Germany ?.
She died about 1821/22 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Elizabeth Butler is also
known as Elizabeth Butcher in some records.
