Ben and Leora Nichols, Golden Wedding Aniversary
Couple Mark 50th Wedding Anniversay with Open House

  SHINGLEHOUSE -- Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Nichols were entertained at an open house reception Tuesday night in honor of their golden wedding anniversary.

  The reception was held at their home on Pearl St. from 6 to 9 p.m. with  buffet lunch served to the guests. Hostesses were Mrs. Sarah Nichols, Mrs. Anita Prince, Mrs. Marion Henderson and Mrs. Evelyn Herrick. The guests of honor received many gifts, flowers and cards.

  Mr. and Mrs. Nichols were married Feb. 22, 1905 at Ceres by the Rev. L. D. Adams. They have spent most of their married life here where Mr. Nichols clerked in his father's store and worked in  the natural gas fields. He is still active, working now for the Builders Home Supply Co.

 Mrs. Leora Nichols, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Richard of Olean, has been active in public library work, and also in church and public activities. She has been a member of the library board for many terms.

  Mr. Nichols is a charter member of the Shinglehouse Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges and has served as IOOF secretary for nearly 30 years. He recently received hi 50-year pin and a life membership. He was also active in the local fire department, Macabee and other fraternal orders.
