Milton B. "Mitt" Carawan was born on September 27, 1870 in Hyde County. He died on September 6, 1927 in Greenville, Pitt Co., NC. His death certificate (Vol. 15, page 492) has Milton Carawan, white, age 58, Spinner- textile mill. He married Unicy Jean Brinn on December 1, 1890. She was born November 22, 1873 and died August 14, 1949. Milton was the son of Benajah Carawan and Nancy E. (Dukes) Moreslender - Carawan and a Great- Grandson of John Carawan I of Hyde County. Unicy was the daughter of Denard Brinn and Jane Susan Sawyer. Unicy's sister, Mary Elizabeth (Brinn) Carawan married James "Jimmie" Frederick Carawan, Milton's brother.

• Sarah Pembrook Carawan was born December 13, 1897 and died June 1, 1991 in Greenville, Pitt, NC. She was first married to William May Hammond and 2^nd to James Vandiford
• Liza - married Isaac Carl Morris
