I am Gloria "Sherwood" Hahn. The Sherwoods moved to Porterdale in the summer of l941 in order for my mother Ruth Sherwood to work in the Porterdale Hospital. I entered 8th grade that fall at Porterdale High School. We lived on Poplar St. I graduated in 1945, went off to college and came back, lived in the beautiful Teachers Cottage and taught fifth grade  in 1947-48. It was a wonderful experience.
I have fond memories of many people and happy times in Porterdale and enjoy the news and comments that my youngest sister, Patsy Walden forwards to me.

Hello, Joe,
I have been been in contact with someone from Porterdale for a while now, but don't remember the name. So I will tell you who I am. My name is Gloria Sherwood Hahn. My parents were Aubra, who owned a flower shop in Covington, "Miss Ruth" Sherwood who nursed at Porterdale Hospital for  many years and helped deliver many, many babies. My sisters are Jane and Patsy, who both played basketball for Porterdale and my brother is Charles. Jane and I played in the band and sang in the chorus and in choir at the Methodist Church.
We moved to #36 Poplar St. in 1941. I was to enter eighth grade that year. I graduated at Porterdale in the Gym in 1945. Some of my class mates were the Johnson twins, Coy and Troy, Helen Martin, Carolyn cody, Macel Patterson, Frances Dial ,Jack Walden, Tolbert Moody and others.
I went off to college and came back and taught fifth grade in Porterdale in 1947-48.
I have great memories of those years and my heart will always have a special place for Porterdale , Covington and Newton County Georgia. I have lived in North Carolina since 1952. I am sorry I cannot attend the reunion, but my health is not great and the distance is too much for us to come.
I'll be sending my money for a brick in a few days, along with the form. Thanks for the opportunity. I had lots of good times in that gym!
