Descendants of Thomas Gannon
Generation No. 1
1. THOMAS1 GANNON died WFT Est. 1818-1876. He married MARY ANN RUNYON WFT
Est. 1812-1858, daughter of FRANCIS RUNYON and SARAH HARRIS.
Notes for THOMAS GANNON:
I feel quite sure that the Abraham Gannon that accompanied Thomas to from New York to
Jennings Co., IN was Thomas' brother. I am quite sure that they came to Jennings Co. from
Stuenben Co., NY just as my Dailey ancestors did and many many of the inhabitants of their
small community in Jennings Co. I also strongly believe that 'MY' Thomas and his brother
Abraham are related to the Abraham Gannon of Wayne, Steuben Co., NY. Francis Runyon was
their. There are Harris's there (Francis wife) Thomas met and married Mary Ann Runyan
there and then migrated with the same group as the Dailey's. A few years later Ellinorre
Daily married her fellow 'emigrant' Harris Gannon.
Notes for MARY ANN RUNYON:
Mary Ann Runyon is the gateway individual for me to the Runyon family. She is descended
two differnet sons of Vincent, Peter AND Vincent (jr.) The forty-one ancestors, sibling
andother members of her extended family (excluding her descendants) that I have listed
here have been compiled here from the work of other researchers. Other than initially
connecting to this family, only a small portion of the ORIGINAL research was done by me,
so I decided to only add the direct line that I abstracted from other researchers. at some
point in time I may attempt to investigate this line for myself but until then I don't
feel comfortable in adding that info here.
The researchers that I have discovered that have worked the most on MY LINE are: Robert
Runyon ( WFT Vol 24 Tree 2231), Geri Halstead ("Up the Runyon Tree"), Harmon
Clark ("Runyon Reports" to the rootsweb Runyon Family mailist), and Tom Runyon.
Harmon Clark and Geri Halstead are very very highly respected runyon family researchers
who have been working on the entire Runyon family for decades. Robert Runyon, the compiler
of WFT 24 Tree 2231, has done considerable research. His sources are included in the
"notes' sections for each individual instead of in the standard "source"
sections. I am impressed by the accuracy that I see in this work (with what little I
really know about ]. And Tom Runyon has worked very hard to compile and share and sift
through all ot the data that has been previously compiled on this line. Rather than repeat
there work, which I could never equal in an entire life time, I have tried to quote it
accurately, respect it, source it, and pass it on to you, fellow descendants and
researchers. If you are looking for more information on Runyons I suggest that you trying
contacting these very able researchers through the Runyon Family maillist at rootsweb.com.
I have a LOT of peripheral information on Mary Ann, her parents and the Gannons concerning
Stueben Co AND Jennings Co. SOON I will incorparate it HERE!
