Amanda Jane Jeter and John W. Lilly

Amanda Jane Jeter and John W. Lilly

Amanda (sometimes Amandia) Jane Jeter, the third daughter of William Griffin Jeter and Elizabeth McCutchen Berry, was born 5/15/1841 on the family farm between Petersburg and Atterbury, Illinois in Menard County.  She married John W. Lilly, a native of Kentucky, on 2/14/1861 in Livingston County, Missouri with the following issue: Orrin, William, Harriet, Martha, Edward, Charles and Johnny. (I have no information on these offspring; in fact, Amanda's family is the only branch of the WGJ family with whom I have not been able to establish contact.  Working on locating some descendants in the Santa Cruz area as a Thelma Lilly sent the telegram from Santa Cruz notifying Mayo E. Jeter of his brother Will's death, and there are other indications that not only did Harriet follow her brother to California but perhaps some of Amanda's children as well.)

John W. Lilly, who was born on 8/1/1828 in Kentucky, died in Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO on 10/2/1892 and is interred in the Jones Cemetery, a short distance east of Chillicothe.  (Also buried in that cemetery are my Somerville great-great-grandparents)

Amanda J. Lilly apparently went to live with one of her children in the Elk City, Oklahoma area as we find her grave there in the Fairlawn East cemetery.  She died 1/20/1914.
