These maps will help explain the different opinions expressed in the different books about exactly where William GRIFFITH lived.  First we hear New Castle PA which doesn't make any sense until now.  Now at last we can understand the geography:

1st: We're told, the immigrant William arrived in New Castle and lived there.

2nd: Next he is said to have been on Beaver Creek.

3rd: William b. 1714 moves to York county and lives around the Mountain there.  He acquires a huge amount of land.  Later his father comes to live with him and dies at 105 yrs. old in Warrington.  No date has ever been told of his death or birth for that matter.   He is reported to have come to America sometime around 1682-90.  We have yet to find his passage record.
