To the Sheriff of Randolph Co. Greetings

Whereas lately in our pleas and quarters sessions begun and held for the
county of Randolph on the first Monday of August A D 1827 William Cox
------ out his ------- against TedeNC.e Lane and John Hutson
administrators of the estate of Adam Moffitt Decd and thereon called
upon the said TedeNC.e and John as admr. aforesaid to answer him of a
lien of debt and the said TedeNC.e and John at November Term 1827 of our
said court among other things pleaded that they fully administer the
clerk of their intake the said (Adam Moffitt) and whereas at the trial
of the -------- ---------- between the parties in said cause the said
------ so as aforesaid pleaded by the said TedeNC.e and John was found to
be True and the said (William Cox) ------- judgement in said case for
the sum of (ninety four dollars and twenty four cents $94.24 balaNC.e of
priNC.ipal and interest twenty four dollars and six cents $24.06) and the
further sum of (eight dollars forty five cents) for cost of said and
although the said (William Cox) hath recovered his -------- aforesaid
yet -------- for the same still remains to be made and it being
insinuated to our said court by the said ( William Cox)that the said
(Adam Moffitt Decd) leised and possessed of certain lands tenement and
hereattachments lying -------
and being in the Co. of Randolph aforesaid and hath left (Nancy
Winingham wife of James , Henry, Adam, Dolly, Jesse, Jane Ruce wife of
George Ruce, Polly, Wilson, Aaron and Elizabeth Moffitt) some of them
married and all heirs at law -------- --------- the aforesaid lands
------ their -------- -------- ---------- and the said (William Cox )
hath supported in to have --------
for his judgement ------- to aforesaid against the said tenants and
heraldments and -------- being --------- to provide for him a suitable
------- in their behalf --------- command you to make known to (James
Winingham and wife George Ruce and wife and James Winingham guardian
--------- for Polly, Wilson, Adam, and Betsy Moffitt) that they
personally -------- and appear before the --------- of our court of
pleas and quarter sessions to be held on the fourth Monday of August
next then and these to show cause why the said (William Cox) shall not
have judge of -------- for his debt and cost aforesaid against the lands
tenements and hereattachments aforesaid of that the said (Adam Moffitt)
decd -------- and possessed and which have --------- as aforesaid

We command you to summon a jury of good and lawful men today and allot
to Rachel Moffitt widow and Retict(?) of Adam Moffitt decd one third
part of all his land tenements and householdments in your Co. of
which the said Adam Moffitt decd -------- of possessed and to put her in
possession of the same and make return of your proceeding to our next
court on the fourth Monday of February next. Witness Jesse Harper clerk
of our said court at office the first Monday of November A D 1825

Randolph County

At a Co. court of pleas and quarters sessions begun and held for the
county aforesaid at the courthouse at Ashboro on the fourth Monday in
February A D 1825.

WHEREAS it appears to this court that Adam Moffitt late of this Co.,
died without will: this is therefore to certify that Administration on
the estate of the said Adam Moffitt is granted unto TedeNC.e Lane and
John Hutson who has given bond accordingly. The Administrator aforesaid
is hereby authorized to take into his possession the goods, chattels,
rights and credits of the said decd, wherever to be found in this state,
and a true inventory thereof returned into this court agreeable to law.
