ALICE H. WITHEY
White Salmon resident Alice H. Withey, a native of
Goldendale, died Monday, Sept. 14, at the Hood River Care Center, at the
age of 90.
She was born April 25, 1897 to Tunis and Lucinda (Short)
Henshaw in Goldendale, where she grew up. In 1935, she married Frank Withey.
They moved to Port Angeles where she owned the Smart Shoppe for many years;
Frank died in 1963 and she moved to White Salmon to be near her twin sister.
Alice was a member of the Soroptimist Club and traveled
extensively. She went around the world just a few years ago. She maintained
her own home until June of this year when ill health forced her to go to
the nursing home in Hood River.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who died
in 1963; her twin sister, Alice Coughlin, who died in 1984, five additional
sisters and one brother.
Alice's funeral will be Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. graveside
at the Mount Angeles Cemetery in Port Angeles, Wash. The officiating minister
will be Rev. Philip Nevsig.
