Road Work Now on Will Put Town in Close Touch With North Bank Highway

Klickitat, the new lumber town of western Klickitat county, is experiencing a building boom this spring greater than any town in this part of the state.
Work on the road in the Klickitat Canyon is being rushed by the county to handle traffic between Lyle and Klickitat. When completed it will connect Klickitat with the North Bank highway and place the new town in close touch with White Salmon.
In Klickitat itself a new recreation hall has just been completed and now is occupied by a pool and dance hall, a café and meat market. A. Scott Milne of The Dalles, Ore., has purchased a business site on which a two-story building will be erected Robert McCrow of Goldendale has bought a business lot and will build a two-story structure upon it at once. The Spokane, Portland & Seattle railway depot probably will be completed within ten days.
A large crew is employed in throwing two new bridges across the Klickitat River on the new county road. A high-pressure fire line is being installed by the J., Neils Lumber company, and a four-inch water system is being put in throughout the business and residential districts independent of the high-pressure fire line. A 12-inch well at the planing mill is down 100 feet, and water is expected to be to tapped at any time.
