The most elaborate personal account of life in Wissinoming is by Mickey McHeran.
Her book, titled Wissinoming, my hometown, is available at two branches of the Free
Library of Philadelphia: the Central Library at Logan Circle and at the Tacony Branch at
6742 Torresdale Ave., call number 974.811 M183w. Many of her personal accounts
can be found under topical headings on this web site. For example: The Firehouse, Wissinoming Park, and Businesses & Industries.
Another personal account worth noting is the poetry of Jack
Ackerman, poetry written about local bars, businesses, personalities, and other
subjects - generally around the 1940s and 1950s.
As other personal accounts, memoirs, and related material become available, they will
be posted here.
