Daniel Janse Van Antwerpen was born circa 1635 at Antwerp, Netherlands.
He married Maria De Groot, daughter of Symon Symonse De Groot and Rebecca du Trieux, in 1669 at Schenectady, NY.2
Daniel Janse Van Antwerpen died after 1720.
Daniel was a deputy shout fiscal in Albany in 1656. He signed a contract to serve Adriaan Appel, an innkeeper, for one year 24 Sept 1661. He then went to Delaware, returning to the Hudson Valley about 1665. He settled at 8 miles north of Schenectady about 1670. Daniel was a magistrate in Schenectady in 1676, in 1704 a member of the Board of Trustees, deacon in 1703 and probably elder in 1715. That year he deeded part of a lot to the Reformed Church. Part of his house still stands today at the site of the famous Mabee House near Schenectady. |

(Probably the Abraham Jels. Truax mentioned often in the Schenectady Commission of Conspiracies as a witness against various tories. Also probably the one married to Elizabeth Van Slice, esp. since he was apparently closely associated with John van Slice. This would make it possible that she is the Elizabeth who made a widow's claim for rev. war pension 1834, and would therefore make *this* Abraham J. Truax the ensign in the Albany Co. Militia. Much of this is proposed by Thura Truax Hires. Also, Clinton Papers mention that Abraham Je, Abraham P., Caleb, and Andrew Truax all signed a petition protesting billeting. Abraham P. and Caleb were enlisted men in the 2nd. Reg't., where Abraham J. was an ensign.). |
