Life and Times

Chief Harry A. Rapp, referred to as "Dutch" by most everyone, rests on a park bench in this 1950 photo taken in front of the Sharpsville Fire Station, by his wife, Beatrice.  The bench Dutch is resting on was built by the firemen, so they could sit out in front of the station.  To the left in the background of the photo, you can see a wagon wheel that is part of the Hand Drawn Hose Cart that the Borough of Sharpsville purchased in 1899.

Rapp and good friend Monty Welch, late 1930s (at left); below, cleaning up after a flood at the Firemen's Shelter House at the Water Plant next to the Shenango River.
