4. Conrad2 King
Pierce School: Land was purchased from Conrad King, located in the SE1/4 of Section 18, Range 5 East in the Town of Cassel on June 8, 1901, for the purpose of erecting a school house.  At the meeting of the local residents, it was decided to build a brick schoolhouse.

School was to be started by November 1 of that year and to hire a female teacher if possible.  Each family had to buy their own textbooks that first year.  A Miss Elmere Gervais was hired as the first teacher, but apparently she quit before the school year was over, as John King had to substitute for the last 3 months.
