OBITUARY:
Emma K. (Regnold) Penrod, 93, of Belton, MO, formerly of Memphis and Milton, IA, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Beautiful Savior Home in Belton. She was born the daughter of John and Della Mae (Reno) Stice on April 8, 1918 in Memphis.
Emma attended school in Memphis before marrying Quenton Regnold in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1953.
She later married Paul Penrod, and the couple lived in Milton, IA, until Paul's death.
Emma then returned to Memphis before moving to the Beautiful Savior Home in 2001.
She enjoyed walking, going out for social activities and in her earlier years she enjoyed sewing for her family. Emma enjoyed laughter.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, seven brothers and sisters, a daughter, Betty Miller, and a granddaughter, Mary Evelyn Morgan.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Skarie and Sandra Crofton; three sisters; grandchildren, David Rude, Ginger Newsom, Brenda Irvin, Bill Kays, Christina Barber, Michelle Alanis, Woodruff Nelson, Jimmie Nicewanner, Penny Jean Shadle, Virginia Marie Shields, Arthur Dean Nicewanner, and Tammy Lynn Bulman; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on, Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Dan Hite, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Memphis officiating. Taped selections of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" were played during the service. Family members served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery.

Arthur LeRoy Rice, 86, of Keokuk died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Born July 19, 1918, in Ontario, Calif., he was the son of Charles E. and Minnie Anita Hedding Rice. On July 1, 1946, he married Frances E. Stice in Phillipsburg, Kan. She died Sept. 28, 1993.
Mr. Rice was a salesperson for Jemison Chevrolet and McCredie Motors. He later picked up cars for Shottenkirk.
He moved to Keokuk in 1951 from Kahoka, Mo. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, was a past member of Keokuk Moose Club and American Legion Post 41, and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Greensburg, Mo. He enjoyed stock car racing and going to casinos.
Survivors include two sons, Richard E. Thompson of Manchester and James L. Thompson of Grand island, Neb.; one daughter, Linda Sue Kline of Ankeny; and four grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, who raised him after his mother's death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk.
A graveside service with full military rites for Mr. Rice will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Keokuk National Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Spratte officiating.

Jan. 24, 1924 –– Oct. 4, 2010 KAHOKA, Mo. –– John Stice Jr., 86, of Kahoka, Mo., formerly of Keokuk, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at his daughter's home in rural Kahoka.
He was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Memphis, Mo., the son of John R. and Della Mae Reno Stice.
He married Evelyn Rose on Jan. 31, 1943, in Kahoka. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1997.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a truck driver at Rath Packing Company in the Quad Cities for 28 years, retiring in 1981.
After his retirement he lived in Keokuk until moving to Kahoka three years ago.
He was a member of Family Worship Center of Keokuk and American Legion Post 41 in Keokuk. John specialized in being "Grandpa."
Survivors include: six children, Sharon Borgwardt and her husband, Eric, of Denver, Iowa, Richard Stice and his wife, Roberta, of Kahoka, Timothy A. Stice of Winchester, Mo., Judy Thompson of Kahoka, David Stice and his wife, Cim, of Keokuk and Daniel Stice, also of Keokuk; 24 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Katherine Penrod of Belton, Mo., Pauline Burrows of Des Moines, Barbara Houston of Lafayette, Colo., and Helen Picton of Keokuk.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy, Peggy Sue; a son, Randy; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; four brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk, with Brother Bill Hayes officiating.
Burial with full military rites will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery.
