Jas. Bridges Dies of Heart Attack
James M. Bridges passed away at his home in Amador City, Monday, June 6. He
was born in Arkansas and had resided in this state for seven years. While
here he operated the Texaco Service Station in Amador City for the past
several months.
Although he had been in failing health for several months, he was just
bedfast for a week previous to his death. Mr. Bridge (typo on the last name)
had many friends in this county who were saddened by his death.
Left to mourn are a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Jane Isabelle of Arizona;
four sons, George of Dutch Flat; Garland of Colusa; Clyde of Grass Valley and
Charles of this city. Funeral services were held from the J.J. Daneri and Son
Chapel in Jackson with interment in the Jackson City Cemetery (Wednesday, 8 Jun 1938).

   In memory of Charles L. (Red) Bridges
   Charles (Red) Bridges probably lived in Dutch Flat longer than most of today's residents. Although he was a native of Winslow, Arkansas where he was born January 3, 1911, he and his wife Eleanor moved to Dutch Flat in 1938 and he eventually built a home here where he died April 10, 2000 after a long and debilitating illness.Red was a 35 year PG&E employee. He was a past Noble Grand of Olive Lodge of Dutch Flat, I. O. O. F. and many people recall him greeting them at the lodge breakfasts (and taking their money!). He had joined the Dutch Flat Community Club 47 years ago and was a volunteer fireman for 45 years. Red is survived by his devoted wife Eleanor, who nursed him day and night through his final illness; his son Dutch Flat Fire Chief Charles, Jr.; daughters Charlene Simpson of Weimar and Pattie Yeo of Auburn, six granddaughters, seven great grandsons and one great granddaughter. A memorial service was held at the Dutch Flat Community Club on April 15 and the club was packed with a standing room only crowd of mourners. The family asked that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dutch Flat Volunteer Fire Department or the Dutch Flat Community Club, PO Box 14, Dutch Flat, CA 95714.

   Charles L. "Red" Bridges, 89, passed away April 10, 2000 at his home in Dutch Flat. Born January 3, 1911 in Winslow, Arkansas, he was a resident of Dutch Flat for 61 1/2 years. Beloved husband of Eleanor, father of Charles Jr., of Dutch Flat, Charlene Simpson of Weimar, and Patti Yeo of Auburn. He is also survived by 6 granddaughters, 7 great grandsons and 1 great grand daughter. He was employed by PG&E for 35 years, a Dutch Flat Fire Dept., volunteer for 45 years, a member of the Dutch Flat Community Club for 47 years, and a past Noble Grand of Olive Lodge 81 of Dutch Flat.

Charles married Eleanor CASTIGLIONI.

   Graveside services for G.H. "Gary" Bridges, 71, of Redding will be conducted
   at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Redding Cemetery.
   Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars District 20 Honor Guard will
   officiate.
   Visitation is until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Wednesday at
   McDonald's Redding Chapel.
   Mr. Bridges died Monday at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
   Born Aug. 26, 1915, in Winslow, Ark., he was a bartender at the Golden Eagle
   in Redding for 35 years.
   He is survived by wife Peggy; sons William, Stan, Jeff, Kenneth Lee and Sean
   Michael, all of Redding, Ed Mason of Red Bluff and Michael Ponke of Chico;
   daughters Jackie Wade, Debra Passmore and Karen Gannon, all of Redding, and
   Roberta "Bobbie" McCubbin of Loomis; brothers Charles of Dutch Flat and Clyde
   of Lancaster; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Garland married Dorothy May MASON. Dorothy was born on 19 Dec 1915 in , Shasta, California, United States. She died on 29 Mar 1966 in Humboldt, California, United States. She was buried in Auburn, Placer, California, United States.
